Natural Instincts Demi-Permanent Hair Dye, 9 Light Blonde | 1 Pack

Perfect for blending grey very naturally! In my younger days I had auburn hair. When I went grey I started using permanent blonde 8 dye. Years later I got tired of maintaining it (grey roots, argh), and grew out my natural grey. Unfortunately my own grey was a mousy color and did not go well with my green eyes and warm coloring. I tried glazes, purple shampoos, etc., but the cool tones never looked right. I tried this product, and it was perfect! I only left it on 10 minutes, and it gave my grey hair a warm champagne glow. I still look grey, I’m 72 and not trying to hide that. It’s just that this grey is warm and natural on me. And the shade is light enough and fades enough that there is no “grow out” one month later. Bonus points for smelling nice and not damaging my hair like permanent dyes. I am putting this on subscription!

I know this product is not recommended for gray hair, but I like the fact that it will wash out gradually and I can recolor when I want, rather than seeing gray roots and having the difficulty of coloring my roots at home by myself. My hair is almost completely gray on the top, but underneath is mostly my natural light brown. I got the light blonde color because I was afraid of going too dark but will probably try the medium blonde next time. I only shampoo my hair twice a week so hopefully this will last more than 2 months. My hair came out very soft and manageable. Update: I would say this product lasted about 3 months, or 25 shampoos in my case. Of course, it’s difficult to say exactly how many shampoos since it gradually washes out. I still have some pieces of hair that held the color. Next time I color I will buy 2 boxes ( I have hair an inch or 2 past my shoulders ) and section my hair well. I had used one box and sort of dumped it on my head massaged it like a shampoo.

This works well for me. It brightens my hair with no bad order and great conditioning. It lasts about 3 months.

It's fine. The original brown box version has never made my hair otange-y, while this one does sometimes - but I find it harder & harder to find my shade in that original version in person any more (I use Sahara/neutral blonde), so this version is my backup plan. I have to be sure I use this on a Friday evening to ensure I have time to wash my hair Sunday evening with purple shampoo before I have to go to work. I still LOVE the aftercare conditioner - there's plenty for ongoing use, and it's the best treatment I've used. I would pay for that stuff on its own! The product itself is also very gentle on my hair. It always feels and looks super healthy when I'm done. That part is the same, and that's a good thing. Overall, this is not my first choice - but it is way preferable to a permanent color because of the potential damage they can inflict, and it's better than nothing. It's an okay sub for the brown box version, when necessary.

Easy to use. I put this over my bleach platinum hair and it is lovely, just a hit of pale gold, champagne, and vanilla blonde.

Never thought I would have a problem with a replacement when buying 3. All three boxes looked OK when the product arrived. Two months after the purchase, ready to use the hair color, I opened the sealed box and saw that the #2 tube had a leak from under the cap. Also, the color was brown, not it's usual color... Couldn't be used. Amazon does not replace defective items after a certain number of days! Called Clairol. Their customer service was closed at 3 pm my time, since they are in NY.

Did absolutely nothing ! I’m coloring my hair for years now. I’m a dirty blonde and use lighter colors to be blonde. I’m pregnant and wanted to try a friendlier color. I’ve waited 3 months because it’s not recommended to dye your hair in early pregnancy. My roots are showing bad. Used the color and nothing changed. Still have my roots showing no difference at all. Can’t even get a refund.

I love this product, but it just would not color my roots, I left my hair as long as I could without washing it before coloring. it seemed to do the trick......and I also leave the product on for half an hour..after coloring it seemed to make my hair lank and greasy till I washed it again...the roots still wash out faster but at least it is there to start....other than that the colour is great...

Love this product hair is shinny and looks healthy. Doesn’t cover all greys, but still a great result

I didn't have any expectations for this product being a more natural alternative but it didn't disappoint. It covered the grey and has a uniform colour.

This did absolutely nothing. Not even a slight change in colour (natural colour is medium brown)

I used the Light Blond because I heard it was a good choice for grey hair. Unfortunately it seems to have come out as brassy, which is definitely not what I was expecting. The product itself is easy to use but I just don’t like the outcome. I might try the ash blond if I decide to use this product again.
