these Nalgene Oasis Canteens are the same shape and size as the traditional military canteens, made of metal and then plastic...but, this comes without any odor! even with a half full canteen of h20 left idle for a long period, there is still no odor, and if you place something other than h20 in it, there is no lingering taste or odor of that item. it is a very strong and durable material, this Eastman Tritan, and the Oasis 1qt is a perfect replica in size and shape to the canteens of the military. The military-style canteen design is probably the most underrated piece of basic military kit every devised. The contoured design holds an entire quart of water in a much smaller profile than a cylindrical water bottle. With the contoured design, you can affix the canteen in a pouch against your body comfortably and without it hanging off or sticking out. It's also much more comfortable and natural to hold. Going hand-in-hand with the canteen is the canteen cup, and this bottle does fit perfectly with the GI canteen cup. The canteen cup takes up almost not additional space, as it nests perfectly with the canteen. It can be used as simple cup or mug, with hot or cold beverages, or as a bowl for your soup, or as a pot to cook with. The canteen and cup are two vital pieces of survival gear that nest perfectly together-- your water source and your ability to boil water and cook. Folks who use your standard cylindrical 32oz Nalgene bottles struggle to find a cup that nests with it, or they carry a cup/pot separately-- yet there's a great solution that has been around for decades right in front of them. The canteen + cup combination is brilliantly simple and, dare I say, perfect. The Nalgene version of the canteen is, in my opinion, superior to the standard GI issue canteen *for civilian use*. First of all, it doesn't come with that pre-used, standard issue canteen taste. But aside from that, it's transparent and the material is one of the finest on the market. I can't say this for sure, but I feel that the Nalgene material is easier to clean and less likely to leave a plastic taste. Is it a "military grade" item? I can't say for sure, as I don't know the detailed requirements the military has for the canteen and there are rigorous tests that go into it that the Nalgene hasn't been put through, as far as I'm aware. For instance, is it flame retardant, will it melt easily, is it UV resistant, does it meet standards for impact resistance, etc. Overall, it's a 5-star item, in my opinion. I wish the cap was secured a bit better and the mouth was a bit wider, but that doesn't detract from the 5 stars. You can't go wrong with this bottle.

Je suis passé de la classic ronde à celle là, très content, elle se glisse mieux dans le sac où poche latérale, le bouchon à le bon diamètre (on en met pas partout), bien meilleur prise en main (enfin pour mes petites mains ;)

Well made water bottle in strong (blue) nalgene, modelled on the U.S. military issue water bottle, so compatible with readily available belt packs, cups and canteens. Absolutely no smell or taste to the water, even from new, and we one of these in the boot of the car to hold a drink for the dog. Easily holds one litre of water, the top screws on securely with no leaks and the plastic strip is strong enough to use to attach to a belt or pack with a carabiner - thoroughly recommended.

Come sempre la Nalgene non si smentisce borraccia di qualità ottima e non emana alcun odore ed è bella da vedere o toccare. E' la seconda che acquisto con questo marchio. Ho preso quella di colore grigio ma ci sono anche altri colori. Forse è un po' grande per le mie necessità, ma mi adatterò, io la uso in ufficio. La Plastica e Bpa free e si lava in lavastoviglie. Trovo positivo anche il fatto che essendo trasparente, appena un po' opaca, ho sotto controllo la quantità di acqua che mi rimane anche perché la bocca della borraccia è ampia ed ne esce un bel po' quando si beve. La consiglio aggiornamento al 21/04/2018 Pessima resa. Dopo un po' l'acqua contenuta dentro la borraccia diventa imbevibile in quanto assume un saporaccio di plastica. Deluso del prodotto eppure ero un affezionato del marchio Nalgene.
