SKS GERMANY S-Blade Rear Fender, Black

I'm impressed with the quality, function, and how easy it it is to install/remove.

I’ve used this fender for three riding seasons, and it works very well. This fender is designed to keep water and dirt off the rider’s back, it IS NOT a full rear fender. It’s also designed for narrow tires, a 700 x 32 is probably about the widest that would work. It takes about 5 seconds to mount, and one second to release, and is very lightweight. Some reviews complain about a loose fit, the key is to adjust the strap so that the clip just engages, the quick release then tightens the strap further once closed. Mine never moves once installed, even on very long rides. This fender mount only fits round posts, if your bike has an aero seatpost it won’t work. Update: bought four more of these fenders in 2019 for my riding buddies, we used them on a one week bike tour, all the fenders worked great, no issues, and no black streaks down our backs, even after an afternoon riding in the pouring rain.

I've had this since 2018. It is very lightweight, holds to my seatpost perfectly, and is extremely fast to attach/detach. I haven't needed to adjust the tightness, but that's also very easy to do if necessary. I have 700x25 tires and a (relatively short) rear rack, and this fender has no problems with this setup. In fact, the attachment the post is only 1 5/16" wide (34 mm), so I, personally, also have plenty of space for a rear light and some bungee cords on the post. My only criticism with this product is with theft prevention. The fender lacks any sort of loop, eye, or method for securing it to a bicycle. This means you have to build something yourself to solve this problem or carry the wet/dirty fender around with you. The latter option is awkward because of the length and shape, though fortunately it weighs almost nothing. Normally I wouldn't hold this against the product itself, since it's up to the buyer to decide whether this is a fault that is really relevant to their use case. However, I think this is a problem widespread enough, and a solution so simple for the manufacturer, that I have to knock a star off.

Legit. The only fender setup better would be a full wheel fender that is mounted to your brake mounts at twice the price. Keeps your legs dry on turning and also your rear bib dry from rear wheel spray. Couldn’t be lighter so no real noticeable weight gains. Great design and work well for their purpose. Also 1 minute to install and 15 seconds to remove.

Seems to be well built, looks good on your bike. However, the mechanism to keep it attached to the tube is not very effective. I installed the fender on my bike, rode it for a day, and everything went well. Next day, I found that the fender was missing; one possibility is that it fell off and I didn't notice, since I am pretty busy when riding on the street. The more likely thing though, is that someone stole it overnight. All you need to do to remove this fender is to pull a small plastic lever, and that's it, it comes off. So it's relatively easy for this thing to fall off, and also to steal it; you can take it off the bike in less than two seconds. Why not add a small hole for a safety screw or something? I'd probably still have my fender today if it had had a screw. Anyway, decent fender design, but I'd recommend to put some tape over the locking tab when using it. Otherwise, be careful when adjusting it, and remove the fender whenever you park your bike outside. UPDATE: bought another one. This time I used a lot of black tape as a safe measure. Parked bike outside CVS for 15 minutes... Another fender stolen. Dammit.

Last month I bought a single-speed bicycle, and have been out riding every day. I feel so much better! There is a stretch of road on one of my routes next to a cement plant, and one day after a rain I went through a few puddles. When I got home I found that I had collected a two inch strip of dried cement that started on my saddle bag and continued up the back of my shorts, shirt, and helmet. Actually, my helmet was more splattered than striped. It was a real pain washing all that stuff off! Of course it got all over the wheels and bottom bracket as well. I spent some time on the web looking for solutions to the back stripe problem, and I ran across the SKS S-Blade. It really works well and looks terrific too! My bike is tall and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the fender close enough to my tire to be effective. I was quite surprised to find that I could attach the S-Blade quick release to the seat tube directly under the seat post clamp. It may be unusual to have a couple of inches of seat tube exposed below the clamp, but the S-Blade fits perfectly under my saddle bag and hovers within an inch or two of the rear tire. I couldn't be happier! I take my bike with me in the car, but I need to take the front wheel and saddle off in order to do this. Since my S-blade is attached to the seat tube (and not the seat post) I can just leave the S-Blade on the bike. The SKS S-Blade does not keep all the rain, mud, and cement off my bike (or feet), but it does a splendid job of protecting my saddle bag and my rear!

This rear fender is simple, light, and effective. I have used this fender for about 6 months on my road bike when I know that the roads will be wet. The fender attaches at the seat post and can be adjusted with the attachment strap to accommodate the post. The initial setup process only takes about 1 minute. Subsequent attachments or removals only take about 5 seconds. I have ridden many miles with this fender on many wet roads with great success. It keeps your back dry and clean. For me the fender has been very durable and the plastic is fairly tough. Excellent product overall I expect it to last a while.

An meinem Rad war kein Schutzblech und so habe ich mir dieses gekauft. Über ein Schnellspannersystem easy und fest zu befestigen. Sieht auch noch modern und klassisch aus sodass ich es immer dran lasse.

Great quality as expected from SKS. Bought for a single-speed bike without eyelets/mounting holes. Looks good.
