This Black & Decker pivot handheld vacuum is a powerhouse. Great for picking up pets hair. I have two very large huskies and I have hard floors throughout my house. If you have pets you will understand what I'm saying when I say that the hair collects in the corners & behind doors, along the walls and behind bookshelves -in all those places that are hard to get to- no worries though! this hand held vacuum is the most powerful that I've tried so far for its type. it picks up those debris quickly and easily. it does have a couple of quirks. As some of the reviews have mentioned, the hinge broke on the door. Apparently this is a weak spot or design flaw that I hope Black & Decker can redesign for future models. I was able to put it back together but I am glad to know that I can call Black Decker and they may replace it for me. Thank you to that reviewer that gave us that information! I appreciate that info so much! I've used my vacuum for about six months. I love it so much that I am going to buy one that's similar from Black & Decker I'm going to buy the one with the hose because it looks like the exact same kind but canister style with a hose. it might be easier to get behind certain places. I am happy and impressed with Black Decker's hand held vacuum. I would highly recommend it for anyone that wants to get the job done and done well/ #1 in its class by my estimation. One last thing that is a bit of a drawback -when I bought generic filters that looked exactly the same, the generic filters do not fit well into the unit so that you cannot close it properly. I spent 20 minutes wrestling with it and just concluded that I would try and save you that same pain and let you know to buy the Black & Decker brand filters - that they will fit properly and you will save yourself a lot of of grief. I'd like to end this review with some positives - the vacuum is powerful - has great battery life - it is attractive and it fit well on its charging cradle - it will charge pretty fast - it opens and comes apart easily to be able to clean & although I want you to get the black & Decker filters they are reasonably priced and work extremely well. My sister told me about this. It does everything she said it would. Powerhouse. Gets in all the areas others can’t reach. Under the couch , in the car floor boards. Under the beds. Lots of suctions and last. Set up is great and clean out is easy. Love it

Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesn't speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since it's cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However I've never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasn't died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesn't sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two "On" levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old one's switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so I'm convinced this new one is great. :)

GREAT household essential that, even after three (3) different purchases over a seven-year period, has the same head-scratching issue: dust cup door's hinge is STILL made of plastic and breaks after a few months' use, leaving the door at the mercy of something akin to Bernoulli's Principle in order to keep it closed during that period between being On and Off. Just had the door fall off while at rest, which scattered the remnant clumps of dust in the device (and is really what prompted me to finally review this item). Now, it was a snap to clean it all up, thanks to the superior suction action of the vac, but a wholly unnecessary pain point here. If B&D could figure out how to put a METAL hinge in place where the molded plastic one currently is, 'twould be the crowning achievement of an already-impressive run as arguably THE #1 handheld vac in its class (or any other, for that matter). Picks up everything with a gentle, yet powerful suction -- even some minor spilled liquid (drops). So, I wouldn't change a thing -- except to shut the door on the plastic hinge and test its metal, so to speak, on the next iteration of the device. If you can suck it up and live with a broken door fairly early on in the ownership, then this one's def for you.

I rarely write reviews, but I knew I had to write one for this item. This Vac is Outstanding! It gets everywhere & everything! The performance is fantastic, it's long lasting. If you charge it overnight, it'll last for a very long time. It's portable, great for the car or office, came with 2 filters. I love that it's cordless so I can take it anywhere. What I love the most is how compact it is, I can fit it nicely away & out of sight. It's so good I'm buying another! The only thing I wish is that Amazon offered filters somewhere on it's page, so that I wouldn't have to search for them. Absolutely buying again.

I absolutely love this and recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a rechargeable handheld vacuum. I did a lot of research on them and this was top rated for several reasons; it's lightweight but powerful, easy to empty and clean and has a significant amount of use time on a charge. It has a extendable end and rotates for hard to reach spaces.

Update: 5/23/16 I changed my rating from 4 stars to 1 as the door for the vacuum fell off yesterday. I've attached a couple of photos. While the vacuum performed well and actually beyond my expectations it pains me to knock it down to 1 star. However, the door that fell off is obviously a critical part to the vacuum. If you look at the second picture with the close up of the two pieces of plastic that hold the door on you'll see that both sides snapped off where the plastic knobs fit into door. It looks like this was under engineered and under reinforced for such a critical component. The door needs to open multiple times during each use as the user unloads the garbage and then continues on so in reality this is the most used moving part on the entire machine and should have been built to withstand the abuse. Now comes the fun part of trying to get Black and Decker to fix or refund the vacuum. I was going to return this when I first got it since the suction was much lower than expected based on other reviewers claims and the manufacturers claims of strong suction. However, after use it turns out it has enough suction to get the job done. We have 1/4" shag carpet and stairs and this will clean up the visible stuff. The trick to making this device work (and my other recent vacuum purchase Eureka AirExcel Compact No Loss of Suction Canister Vacuum, 990A which I highly recommend) is a good and quick way to clean it. The manufacturer tells you to tap out the garbage and if needed was the hepa filter. While this will work it will still leave small dust and debris in areas that will require tweezers or pliers to get out. Washing the hepa filter requires drying which takes time. The answer is a blower to clean it. I bought this one a while back for my wood working Milwaukee 0884-20 M18 Compact Blower (Bare Tool) (I have big blowers, shop vac's, large wall mounted cyclone vacuum) and it is great for quickly cleaning this and the Eureka AirExcel. It'll blow out all the gunk stuck in the hard to reach places and blow the hepa filter clean. It's so easy that I clean after every use and sometimes after every few minutes during a big clean. So, a couple of other things about the vac. After the first charge I cleaned the stairs and our upstairs living room carpet on one charge. I've never had it run out yet. I've left it off the charger for a couple of days and it ran fine so not battery drainage going on when sitting idle. The biggest plus is my 6 year old thinks it's fun cause it's light and easy to operate so I'll find her cleaning with it without asking. Hope this helps someone out there make up their mind on this product.

I am very impressed with the amount of power this hand vac has. It has picked up hair bands, big pieces of paper and dirt and dust bunnies in hard to reach places. My slider collects a lot of dirt and bugs from opening and closing the door so often. I live in Florida where there are a lot of gnats and white flies that gather at the base of the slider track, in the screen itself and on the outside of the screen slider. I had no problem cleaning any of these areas very quickly. I've used it in my car where it easily cleaned up dirt and crumbs from my eight year old. It has a little brush attached to the front end of the vacuum. It flips up and down. Well, I was surprised and fell in love with this feature! I use it along the baseboards. No more cleaning dirty baseboards by hand with wipes for me. It cleaned it so easily and quickly. Unbelievable how much of a time saver this tool is for me. My only complaint is the charge runs down fast. My guess is within 15 minutes. Otherwise, this is a real gem to have. UPDATE 01/11/16 - I am a bit disappointed with this vacuum. In fact, I am on Amazon now to purchase a new one. The battery is very unreliable. I have to admit, when it works, it works well. However, there are frequent times when I turn it on and it is not working or very sluggish. I have tried troubleshooting many things like the cord is securely connected, my outlet, etc. and nothing seems to work. It is hit or miss. Update 1/22/2016: I am very impressed with the customer service I received from Black & Decker. I recently reviewed my initial order and saw that it was less than a year since I purchased it. I called black and decker and explained my displeasure with the battery dying quickly. Without any further questioning she asked for my address and a few days ago I received a new model, the Pivot Lithium 20v max. It is a little different and it is quieter when it powers up and it does very well with clean up. I've only used it two-three times. Only time will tell how long the battery will last.

This is a very powerful handheld vacuum cleaner. Very useful for picking up the bits from the kitchen and diing room floor. It's also good for cleaning the seats and floor of the car. Much better than having to get out the big vacuum cleaner. Just the job!

Das Produkt wurde leider mit amerikanischem Netzstecker geliefert und ist für mich so unbrauchbar. Sehr ärgerlich! In der Produktbeschreibung ist das nicht offensichtlich. Es gibt lediglich den allgemeinen Hinweis "US internationale Produkte möglicherweise von den deutschen Versionen abweichen." und "Verkauf und Versand durch Amazon US". Ich hatte mir nicht träumen lassen, dass dann ein Gerät mit amerikanischem Stecker ankommt. In Zukunft werde ich also auch auf dieses kleine Detail achten müssen. Dieser Ärger wäre nun wirklich vermeidbar.
