Elegent Upholstery 3-1/4" Overall Length Replacement Recliner Sofa Chair Mechanism Tension Spring [3" Inside Hook to Hook]

I had two tension springs break on my Lane recliner. Normally, I would go with the original model replacement spring, but they want about $25 apiece for them. These seem to be a good replacement. They have a foam insert, just like the OEM version. The only downside is they seem a little squeakier than the originals, but that is not work fifty dollars to me. As far as installing them, they need to be stretched out about 5-6 inches to hook on. After looking at a few instructional videos on Youtube, I settled with looping piano wire around them and pulling them with a vice grips. Using this method I did both of them in less than five minutes. You don't need to tie the wire, just grab both of the loose ends with the vice grips. It will take a good hard pull, but it can be done.

Worked great and fit recliner perfectly.

Buying/trying spring sizes blindly to repair the foot rest on my recliner is difficult. Tho this spring didn't work for my situation, I'm sure it's ok for wherever it was designed to be used.

Replaced broken spring on old king-size Lane recliner and companion spring on opposite side. Took five minutes and made recliner work like new again. Springs less substantial than originals, but more than good enough.

This spring was very easy to install on my recliner. It works great.
