The Greatest Salesman in the World by Mandino Og (2008-07-30)

"The greatest salesman in the world" is a great story for being a little over 100 pages (they're very small pages) and has some great lessons not only for a salesman but for anyone in business (or even just has a job). No cons for this book.

One of the great books of all time. A timeless classic that should be read over and over.

I had heard a lot about this book, and finally decided to read it after I got my first outside sales job. It's truly inspirational, and if you follow the 10 scrolls, it could be life changing.

I purchased this book after hearing Andy Andrews talk about the author. It is proving to be a wise and inspirational book, although I have not completed it yet.

If you want a book that will teach about going after what you want in life this is it. It's not just for Sales people but anyone who wants to better themselves

The late Og Mandino came out of the military with ambitions to make it in America. So he had the background of the regimen of the the military. His life got out of control and he "Lost everything." (every good story needs this kind of "conflict" to drive it forward to redemption.) The truth is, though he had hit bottom, he had plenty of success and memories of the the worth of discipline to reflect upon. (If you had a crazy childhood with no significant successes, it will be next-to-impossible for you to help yourself doing rah rah affirmations in front of a mirror. Don't be afraid to seek professional counseling.) Mandino started studying books on success, and got the emotional leverage to jump start his life. The G.S.I.T.W. story is written well enough. But the "secrets" of success that he lays out simply come down to a re-imaging of army life. There are 10 ideas that you basically drill into your head every day until they stick. I believe this chanting affirmations routine must work for some people, so I can't totally condemn it, but it's not for me. And I really don't like the idea of supplicating to God in the style Mandino does, calling on him for a daily dose of pep just to make sales. I have more reverence for the deeper meaning of "seeking God" than that. I am not saying don't read this book, but try to pay as little for it as you can.

Insightful, worth the read. Meaningful with application to real life. Should have read this years ago! OH YEAH, It's NOT about a Salesman! :)

Very insightful book. It really helped me in my sales job.
