Is this the same as saran wrap?

I haven't used Saran wrap in such a long time I don't remember what it's like. I've used this Reynolds wrap for many, many years now and love it.

Is this microwave safe?

Not microwave safe. Plastic wrap made from PVC is not considered microwave safe as it leaches plasticizers out into your food when heated (especially fatty foods). This wrap is what you'd find in a commercial kitchen - it works great (PVC clings best) but just ins't meant to be heated.Microwave safe plastic wrap (which is probably all you can find at the supermarket) is made from either polyvinylidene chloride (PVdC) or low density polyethylene (LDPE) which are considered safe when heated.It doesn't melt in the microwave which is why other reviewers might think it's safe.
