AMAZING LITTLE UNIT !
I originaly purchased this to replace a old Sony EQ that I use between my lap top and the 1000 watt power amp in my shop. the features I based my "original" choice on were, the -7- band EQ, the fact it had rotary potentiometers "not sliders" . Also the EQ reaches down to 50Hz.The Sony still worked, but the sliders were tricky to move. So the Clarion sat in the office in it's package for a few weeks untill I recieved my latest toy, A Dayton Audio DTA-100a Tripath Class-T Digital Amplifier. I disconnected the lap top from the 1000 watt poweramp and decided to run my lap top direct into the Dayton to evaluate the "flat" tone of the tiny little amplifier. I connected the dual bannana plugs from the Dayton into -2- speaker cabs I use when I play bass, the speakers are both identical, SUNN 410H . Basically each has 4 TEN inch drivers with a centered tweeter that has a L-pad adjustment.WOW!~ holy cow ! ! ! Without any EQ the sound quality was AMAZING. I keep turning it up, and it keeps amazing me. With my laptop at full volume, and the tiny amp wide open, the sound was un real. It was so amazingly loud and yet clear at can be. I could actualy put this amp in my back pocket, and the sound was pounding like a nightclub. Now I decide , this is a good place to use that new Clarion EQ. I'm so very glad I waited to use it for this project. First I ran the lap top into the EQ direct (not AUX) and noticed the siginal was a little to hot for the tiny Dayton amp. Well then, I thought, I guess I'll try the "adjustable AUX input". BINGO!!! This EQ / Pre Amp is a match made in heaven with the Dayton Class-T Digital Amplifier . The amp is audiophile quality and this Clarion EQ happened to have the same basic signal-to-noise ratio.(DAYTON DTA-100 s/n is 103 dB(CLARION EQS746 s/n is 105 dBI don't think I could have found a better unit for this aplication at ANY price.I decided to put the two units into a small contained "rack". Being a custom Bass and Guitar builder I had pleanty of nice wood to choose from , and all the tools to build the litle box for these two. In the pics (of the un-finished unit), you can see it's Birdseye Maple with a custom burst lacquer finish. Under the amp is a space that holds the 12volt and the 24volt power supply. They both plug into a 120v power strip so only a single line is run out to power the unit. This little system NEVER even gets warm after being of for days at a time. I now have it in my bedroom (with smallers -JBL_speakers) connected to my main computer as the main sound system. It's not "surround" but you dont think about that when it sounds as good as it does. With a quick twist of a knob or two, I can EQ for a movie, music, or boost some mids to hear the TV late at night with the volume low. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention how PERFECT the Clarions' Sub out worked with the 10" JBL powered sub woofer. With the adjustable AUX input, the adjustable sub level and the adjustable main output level (main volume), this EQ is about as versitile as anyone could ask for. I already know I'm going to purchase a few more to have them around when I need them. It's funny , but the car is the last place I would think to use this amazing EQ. I like it in my room where I can lay back, close my eyes & enjoy the true crystal clear tone. The only things that don't get -5- stars are the smooth knobs. There soo smooth , and my finger tips tend to slide as I think I'm turning. And the nice blue LED lighting is a light to shine in your eyes. It keeps you from being able to see what knob is for what. Much like the Daytons LED. That little blue light is for a airport runway. I put tape over it so I didn't burn my cornias out....ALL IN ALL, THIS EQ IS MARE THAN I COULD HAVE ASKED FOR..................

Awesome Product for Bluetooth Units and Boosting Line Power to Amps
I have a stand alone Bluetooth unit in my classic car that connects to my amplifier but could not get enough volume or power to the amp. I purchased different Line Boosters that did not really work or had poor sound quality as well as a loud "pop" each time I turned on my Bluetooth unit. I removed the line booster then I purchased this Clarion Equalizer... and WOW, what a difference!Putting this equalizer in between my Bluetooth module and my amp made a HUGE difference. I could fade my speakers front to back, I have a separate control for my subwoofer and all the different frequency adjustments. My car now has a killer stereo system that rivals very expensive stereos. I do have quality speakers, amp and subwoofer, however just a Bluetooth module as a hidden head unit. The sound is day and night from when I removed the line booster and installed this equalizer instead. This unit is a game changer for anyone with just a Bluetooth module to an amp.To Sum it up:- Super clean sound- Separate volume control and subwoofer control- Several frequency controls- Bright blue LED lighting (my unit in the glove box - so these may be too bright at night)- Easy install for Bluetooth modules with RCA connections- Awesome Line Power booster (About $50 more than junk ones)- Highly recommended- Classic car people love this option for hide away units

Saved me from buying a different stereo
I had originally received the Sony XAV-64BT 6.1" Touchscreen for christmas, as it was what I had dreamed of placing in my car!!! After installed, it didnt sound right at all. I re-checked all my wiring, checked all my speakers, and even went through all steps of "Fine Tuning" my stereo with Sony's new My Position speaker settings. I was getting so frustrated that at one point, I even re-installed my factory stereo to make sure the NEW one sounded off. After doing A LOT of research (and putting my audio engineer degree to work), I found the problem. Within the internal amplifier of the Sony Stereo it has an incorrect parameter between the front and rear speakers, giving it an OFF Linear Phase. THATS WHERE THE CLARION EQUALIZER CAME IN!!!!!After a bunch of wires running from my 4 channel amplifier to the stereo, I got the PERFECT SOUND. The secret is the MAIN IN on the Clarion EQ. I took the front Pre-amp outputs from my stereo and ran them to the MAIN INPUT on the EQ, then from the EQ it splits FRONT and REAR outputs from that. It eliminates any Incorrect Phase Balance, and is COMPLETELY adjustable from front to rear on the EQ itself. The only feature I cant use on my stereo is the balance... and Im ok with that, like I said, just resort to using it on the EQ! The sound quality is EXCELLENT, and the MHz bands it has is more specific to harsh tone ranges more specifically found in music. It also features a Subwoofer control, but my stereos works just fine.
