Worked great for ~2 years (June 22
This review is actually more about Danby than about this dehumidifier. One reason I bought this unit was that it had a 3-year warranty. Worked great for ~2 years (June 22, 2014 to ~ May 2016, excluding wintertimes). In May 2016, after testing and finding that the unit made noise, but produced no water, I called Danby in early June.Their process required me to bring the old unit to an authorized reapair place (an hour from my house). I dropped the unit off on 6/6/14. On 6/8/16, the repair place emailed their report to Danby that the unit was beyond repair. On 6/13/16, I called Danby to see when I would get my new unit. They told me that I would have to email them a copy of my invoice AND THE REPORT FROM THEIR REPAIR FACILITY -- which they were unable to get from the Danby department to which the facility had sent it! I had the facility email a copy to me and forwarded it to Danby on 6/14/16.Meanwhile, my basement humidity was getting worse by the day, and I bought a new dehumidifier (not a Danby). On 6/19/16, they notified me that:"We have received and attached documents to your claim, we would like to offer you a replacement with the model ADR70B6G , should you provide the following information:1) Picture of the unit with the barcode sticker on it2) Picture of the barcode sticker destroyed/ removed from the unit3) Picture of the three-pronged cord having been cut from the unit4) The preferred address for shipping"On 6/20/16, I replied:"The only Danby-authorized service center willing to deal with dehumidifiers is over an hour away. (Two others I spoke with said that nowadays dehumidifiers are 'disposable items'.) I had to leave the unit at the repair center for them to attempt a repair. They reported that the unit is NOT repairable (which they notified you of as well):SERVICE PERFORMED: UNIT HAS NON REPAIRABLE SEALED SYSTEM LEAKTherefore, I DID NOT MAKE THE TRIP TO PICK UP THE DEAD UNIT. Had I incurred the cost of traveling the hour to pick it up, I would then have also had to pay for environmentally-approved disposal. As it was, your authorized service center took care of the disposal, and I saved the cost and time required to pick it up and dispose of it.Therefore, in place of your items 1-3, I respectfully request that you take the word of your authorized dealer ( SERVICE UNLIMITED, 64 MAIN ST., LEBANON, NJ) that the unit is indeed beyond repair and has been properly disposed of.Also, as it became apparent that your warranty process would be a lengthy one, I had to take alternate action to avoid mold and mildew damage to my furniture and belongings. I bought a new dehumidifier and have had it in operation for over a week now. Therefore, in place of shipping a replacement unit, I would also request a refund. I bought the Danby for $239 on 6/33/14, per the invoice I forwarded to you. Please send check to:..."On 8/8/16 They emailed:"Hello and thank you for your information, we have received all the required information and have begun processing your refund. Please note that refunds could take up to 6 weeks.."On 8/19/16, I got their check in the mail -- WOOHOO!!The good news: Danby DID actually honor their warranty. The not-so-good news: It took 75 days, multiple calls, frustration...

ANOTHER ONE FOR THE TRASH HEAP
This dehumidifier hardly lasted three years. I used it occasionally around the house on humid days in the spring and fall. The evaporator coils started icing up one day, even though the temperature was hovering around 77 degrees. Shortly thereafter the unit completely stopped drawing moisture from the air.I removed the outer cover and vacuumed the coils in hopes that the culprit would be built-up dirt and nothing more; however, there was hardly any dirt on the coils. I noticed that a small section of the coil fins at the very bottom was badly corroded, realizing at once where the indelible yellow stains in the reservoir had come from. There is no doubt that manufacturers can produce longer-lasting dehumidifiers. I had an old Whirlpool dehumidifier that lasted over fifteen years. This Danby unit is just another example of made-in-China shoddiness made exclusively for the dumpster.

Caution!
So far so good. This humidifier has been working for a year now. Really like everything about it: ease of controls, automatic drain, temperature and humidity displays, efficiency - down side is the heat it creates when running, maybe the noise but it's in the basement so it doesn't matter. Works as claimed in reviews and ads....SO a little after a year had passed, the machine began leaking. It was extremely difficult to find a repair person - only one of three names they gave me was still working on Danby machines. I have been on HOLD multiple times for longer than half an hour, waiting for a Danby representative on the phone. The repair person was unable to find an issue with it the first time - and had my machine for approximately 4 months, too late in the season to test it. I needed to return it to him again once in use as it was still leaking. He has still been unable to find a reason for the leak and is blaming it on a cold basement - but it was MADE for a cold basement and purchased for that reason, down to 41 degrees. With the horrible customer service from Danby, extremely limited repair personnel, and a leaking machine, I will not purchase from Danby again! Nor will I purchase any machine of any kind from amazon again since there is no local person to assist with repair or replacement.

Keeps my crawlspace nice and dry!
I live in Arkansas and during the summer there is high humidity. My house is 1900 square feet with a walk in crawlspace. The Central heat and air is under the house too. We realized after buying the house there was a moisture issue under there as the pipes were sweating like crazy when summer came. I bought a cheap dehumidifier to help the issue for the time being but it ran all the time and on high humidity days the display I keep down there that monitors humidity showed it to be near 80%. That's high but no sweating occurred. Decided I needed something more powerful and purchased this one. I found "crawlspace" dehumidifiers costing near $1000 and they remove the same amount of moisture per day this one does. The humidity reading has now dropped to and stays at 50% and this system even cycles off now and then so it's doing the job well! I will be laying new vapor barrier this fall under there which should help even more. So by next summer it should be nice and dry. I saw some folks stating it never turns off even when the compressor stops running. The system runs afterwards for a few minutes after reaching desired humidity to dry the interior out but if it detects the humidity going back up during this cycle it stays running and kicks the compressor back on so that's probably what they are seeing. It's a beast of a machine and does a great job! And yes I know this is not a "crawlspace" dehumidifier but it does the job at a way cheaper price.

Great dehumidifier- We have no concerns leaving it running at our cottage while we are in the city, as it resets itself after power interruptions.Works quietly and efficiently.
