Lasko 2527 16" Performance Pedestal Fan, Black

This fan is well worth for the price. At first, I was thinking that it may not be effective given that the blades are made of plastic Almost 75% of the fan parts are made of the plastic. Also was concerned that my wife will not support by decision to buy this since it may look cheap fan made of plastic. However, when the fan arrived in a nicely packed box from Amazon and once I assembled it within less than 10 mins and when my wife saw it, she was very much impressed. Turning the switch on further amazed us as to how effective this fan was. It gives out a nice breeze and is very powerful fan. One afternoon, I noticed my ceiling fan which was switched off started rotating and I thought I had left a window open. But then I noticed the ceiling fan was moving because of the Lasko 2527 which was running at a distance of over 15 feet. And that too the Lasko which was set on the floor was driving the ceiling fan which was atleast 5 feet heigher. I was quite impressed. I found this a little expensive compared to a $16 pedestal fan I bought at one of the local brick and mortar retailer stores, but for the price you pay, you get a nice breeze out of this fan. And although it is made of plastic, it actually looks expensive fan. Plus the black finish gives it a nice elegant look so as to be kept in a living room. We even took on our vacation getaway and I could collapse it by turning the height adjustment knob to bring the height down by a few feet. One thing to note is that it is not a quiet fan, but we like a little noise when we sleep and the noise from this fan does not bother us at all. This was a harsh summer but we were kept cool with this fan. I will be buying another one if I ever need another for one of our bedrooms! But we are almost nearing fall and it will start getting cooler in another couple of weeks. I would go for it if Amazon drops the price. For now we are good as we already have 3 pedestal fans. But if you are shopping around for a quality fan at a reasonable price, buy this one and you won't regret it! In my opinion, its money well spent.

Good fan, though a bit noisy. I don't mind the "white noise" of the fan motor, but if you really want a quiet fan I'd go elsewhere. It started squeaking as it oscillated after a few weeks, which is annoying and it sounds simply like plastic rubbing against plastic. I haven't had a chance to take a look to see if I can remedy this, but we usually just leave it in one position. The base is good and sturdy and the height is quite adjustable. Overall a pretty good fan The plastic blades are easy to clean and assembly was quite simple.

Does a nice job of blowing air, and not terribly loud, but very cheap plastic construction. It is adjustable but it keeps slipping down. If you try to pick it up to carry it, it's quite likely to come apart. That's easily fixed so it's not a big deal. What is a big deal is that after exactly 1 year and 10 days it went belly up. I turned it on and the motor made a soft humming sound and gave off a burning electrical smell. Of course the blades didn't move. If you need a fan to last more than a year stay away from this one.

I was hesitant to buy this because of the negative reviews posted under the white-colored version of this fan. I am so glad I didn't listen! I was concerned that it would be "cheap" and flimsy due to the all-plastic construction (the fan motor cover, blades, grill and bottom are plastic; the pole is metal). On the contrary, the all-plastic construction is one of the best features of this fan. The plastic is thick, smooth and all of the pieces fit snugly together seamlessly. It is unbelievably light-weight and I can easily move it around with one hand. It must be put together, but the assembly could not be easier and requires no tools or elbow grease - only about 60 seconds of your time. It comes in 5 pieces, plus 2 plastic "nuts" that hold it together. Some reviewers complained that the front grill was "tricky" to put on. If you take 10 seconds to read the instructions, it's a breeze. I think the issue is that you'd expect the front piece to "snap" into place. It does not really snap together, there are tabs on the back grill that simply rest inside the slots on the front grill, like puzzle pieces. Once in place, the grill is firmly secured, yet easily removable for cleaning. It has a multi-angle fan head for whole-room circulation. To adjust the angle, you simply push or pull the fan head until it clicks into the desired position. Other fans that I've owned have a side knob or screw to adjust the angle that always seems to get stripped after awhile, and can be a pain to tighten. Another nice feature is that it is very, very quiet. Full speed sounds like the pleasant hum of white noise, rather than a freight train. Other reviewers claimed that it was too noisy. If that's the case either 1) re-assemble it and make sure that the 2 pieces holding it together are tightened all-the-way & check that the grill is on correctly, or 2) return it because it's defective. Can't say much about the speeds - it offers 3 settings that seem comparable to other fans I've owned. Plain and simple, it does exactly what it's supposed to - it assembles quickly, feels sturdy and solid-yet lightweight, runs quietly and effectively, and is priced right. I'm so happy with this fan that I've already purchased 2 more. (For 25 bucks, it's a steal). It's just a really great fan! UPDATE: Another big plus is how easy this fan is to keep clean. Because it is entirely plastic and dis-assembles into about 5 large pieces, all you need to do is rinse the blades and grill pieces with water and dry. 30 seconds to re-assemble and the fan looks shiny and new. I used to drive myself crazy trying to clean dust/lint/pollen or whatever it was that accumulated on the back of fan, using toothpicks, vacuum, spray cleaners etc. NEVER again- this fan is literally a breeze to keep clean. IMHO this fan is the best one you can buy for the money! JULY 2013 UPDATE: Have owned two of these fans for approximately a year and a half. One is in the master BR and the other in the TV room. Both fans are in use several hours per day, 7 days week for about 10 months/year. I have never, ever had a problem with either of these fans. They work as flawlessly as when they were new (and as mentioned above, look brand new thanks to easy disassembly & cleaning). One of the fans developed a squeak a few months ago, but a 5 second tightening of the plastic pieces and it was gone. Couldn't be happier with this product!

Looked promising, but when the fan arrived the "oscillate" function would only click and the fan would not turn no matter how I adjusted the button for this function. I thought of opening the fan motor housing up and trying to fix it, but why should anyone have to do that for a new fan? Shipping was quick and assembly was very easy. Save all your packing materials in case you have to disassemble and return as I did. Received a refund and bought a stand fan elsewhere.

The biggest selling point is that you can easily take this apart to clean the blades, so it is blowing clean air instead of accumulated house dust. For that alone I would pay double. Pros: Easy, no tools needed assembly. Variable speeds. Oscillates,tilts, or not, your preference. Adjustable height. Lightweight but sturdier base than metal fans I have owned on tipsy legs. Reasonable price at time of my purchase. And you will not waste your time trying to find something to get at dust bunnies inside with toothbrushes, q-tips, or anything else around the house that looks possible ( not that I have done this with other fans, just sayin'). Not too noisy, and I am noise-sensitive. Cons: Can't think of any. It's cleanable, People. Give your other ones away and buy this one.

This is a good quality, sturdy room fan, made in USA. 4 stars because, for my taste, the low setting is still a pretty good breeze, and the noise level is a decibel louder than what I want but acceptable white noise. Also, the fan shroud clips didn't seem to click in place sturdily enough during put together. I am going to buy another one so I can have one up and one downstairs. This is a no frills, basic fan. It has what it needs for what it is. 3 speeds, large radius rotating head, good amount of height adjustment too. This fan will cool you down on a hot day, or circulate the air nicely on a stuffy night.

This is a relatively good fan overall, its stable and easy to operate, to tilt the head, choose oscillation or regular operation. My one complaint is when I select oscillation, which I prefer, it has an annoying squeak at one point and once you notice it is impossible to ignore. But for this I would give this fan a five but my enjoyment of the fan is minimized (I now have it on no oscillation even though I prefer it). Except for the clips in the final stage it was easy to put together.
