Powerful Vacuum That Gets the Job Done!
This Shark vacuum has been great! The suction is powerful and picks up dirt, dust, and hair extremely well on both carpet and hard floors. I especially like the Lift-Away feature because it makes cleaning stairs, furniture, and harder-to-reach areas much easier. Itโs simple to use, easy to empty, and feels sturdy. My floors noticeably look cleaner after using it. Definitely worth the money and I would highly recommend it!

Wow!
Holy smokes, this is a good vacuum! I've had an older model Shark for the last 10-years and truly always thought it did a fine job. I was wrong. This new generation of Shark vacuum blew me away with its deep cleaning capabilities. I couldn't believe how much more it pulled up from my carpet. It really pulls the pile up, too, so the carpet looks great! The suction is insane, which, warning, makes it more difficult to push across the carpet. If you have a bad shoulder, this may be a problem. I had to use two shoulders to push it so I wouldn't reinjure my bad shoulder. But cleaning my stairs has NEVER been easier with the lift-away pod and they look better than they ever have after a vacuuming. Highly recommend this vacuum.

Way better vacuum than Dyson
I bought this to replace my 14yo Dyson DC07 after it broke its clutch for the 5th or 6th time. Sure, it lasted 14 years, a long time for a mass of plastic. But the broken clutch issue was becoming a nuisance considering it was breaking every 2.5 years or so, on average. A replacing Dyson costs as much as 4 of this Shark model, and with very few minor exceptions, it flat out-performs the Dyson hands-down. Straight up, as a vacuum, this Shark pulls suction soooo much stronger than the Dyson ever did. I wished my Dyson wasn't broken or I'd have done a side by side comparison which I'm sure would have seen this little sub $200. Shark picking up dirt where the Dyson had just been passed through. The Shark pulls at such an extreme velocity that on a mid-height pile carpet with its brush roll on, the Shark feels almost self-propelled. You literally have to hold it back as you more so allow it to go forward, as opposed to pushing it forward. Next plus point is the ease of use and simplicity of the on-board suction hose and attachments. Shark beats the Dyson again here by keeping it simple and under complicated, which results in using the additional tools, etc more often due to the ability of quickly changing over and then switching back when done. Shark does kinda blow it here on the inability to keep all the included tools stored on-board the vacuum, which for such a well executed device in almost every other way, it leaves one scratching wondering how they missed something so obvious? The Lift - Away model I purchased came with the powered brush roll, a nifty piece of simple engineering that uses all that suction the Shark has on tap to pull hard enough that it spins a sort of turbine inspired fan wheel inside the powered brush roller body that spins the 4" wide brush via a belt attached to the turbine fan. Along with the Shark exclusive Lift-Away cannister feature, this combo tackles stairs in a manner the Dyson simply cannot do. The only drawback to this otherwise excellent addition is the 4" wide brushroll, which much like its big brother main brushroll, they could both benefit greatly by the addition of an extra 2-3 inches. But who among us couldn't, right? Perhaps Shark thought of these minor insufficiencies in the design, which benefits again over the Dyson by being some 5+ pounds lighter than the 19.2 lb Dyson. Really though, the one thing the Shark gives way to the Dyson on is the cannister design, as the super efficient, one finger pull to remove and one finger pull (from the top, no less) to release the bottom door to dump the cannister contents of the Dyson is no doubt the best there is, and it's a bummer the Shark isn't better in this regard - especially considering how often it needs to be dumped as it picks up years of crud embedded in my carpets that the Dyson never touched! All in all, this Shark is worthy of anyone's consideration, and at the price it's tough to pass up. You shouldn't, either...

Love this vacuum
This is my second Shark Navigator. I bought the first one used, and liked it so much I bought another one on Amazon when the first one stopped working. Two vacuum cleaner repair people have told me that this vacuum is one of the very best, and the only fault it has is that once the roller brush stops working, instead of being a fairly easy fix you'd have to replace the whole head. That costs $100 and a brand new one was on sale here for $150, so it was a no-brainer to get a new one. I love it just as much as my old one. Easy to maneuver and lightweight, picks up really well, has a power forward when the roller brush is engaged. My favorite thing is that you can so easily switch off the roller brush when you go from carpet to hard flooring, so there's no chance of damaging the floor. It's not super quiet....but I have never used a vacuum that was, and this noise level is not bad. Works great to pick up dust on the floor and is excellent at pet hair pickup. I don't care about the fairly short cord, because all you have to do is attach an extension cord and I've had to do that with every vacuum I've had. As for durability, the used one lasted over 4 years, so I expect this one to last a long time, probably at least double that long, because I now know to clean the hair out of the brush every time I use it!

Bought a spare after 9 years
tl;dr Best vacuum ever. Buy one! After 9 years (next month) of daily use (and I'm sorry to report I am not gentle at all), I've started to notice a few concerns with my Shark NV356E Navigator Lift-Away Professional Upright Vacuum. About a year after purchase, I broke one of the clips that holds the dust bin onto the base. But you know what? Didn't matter. The dust bin sits on the base with a tight seal, so the loss of one of the clips has made no difference for the 8 years since it broke. The real concern began when the roller brushes occasionally weren't spinning... I'd take apart the vacuum to be sure it was clean and unobstructed, wouldn't find any problem, but then the brushes would work again. Weird. Then one day a couple weeks ago, it just stopped in the middle of vacuuming. I'm telling you, I almost cried right then and there, but I walked away to calm down. When I came back, it turned on and worked fine. Weird again. I thought I'd better order a replacement. I love this vacuum so much, and it has been such an excellent workhorse, and one never knows when a company will stop manufacturing a certain model, so I ordered a second one to have as a replacement for when the sad time of the death of my first one comes (but you'd better believe I'll consult a repairman before fully giving upโthat's how much I love this vacuum). (Also, just yesterday, I believe I've identified the problem: I think the switch has somehow gone bad. I'll be looking into how to replace it.) Other "problems" I've had include the splitting of the hard part of the little hose at the bottom of the unit 2 years ago next month (7 years after purchase). Black electrical tape held it together until the replacement hose came. I have no idea why it broke, but there's about a 75% chance it was a user-generated problem. And the boy somehow vacuumed up the cord with such force that it damaged the protective outer coating. Again, black electrical tape "fixed" it. Speaking of the boy, he has at various times vacuumed up Legos, paper, dog food, rubber bands, spiders, gravel in the driveway (just to see if it worked), the occasional sock, powdered sidewalk chalk (I thought that one might have killed the vacuum, but no, he miraculously survived), soggy cereal directly from the bowl, and I can't tell you how many times he disassembled the vacuum during his "Deconstructed" phase (remember that TV show? ugh, our aspie boy failed to heed the subtitle: "we take it apart so you don't have to")... my Shark has valiantly kept on working. Some people think the vacuum tips over too easily. True. The hose is stiff and doesn't stretch much. When using the wand, the vacuum will tip over as you pull on the hose, because it's quite top heavy and the hose is attached toward the top. The fix is to "lift away"โdetach it from the floor base. Just takes depressing a release latch. Simple. Emptying the dust bin seems to throw off some users who experience the dirt billowing out as they empty it. Again, an easy fix: lower the dust bin down into the waste basket (don't want to empty it into a full waste basket, you guys), and then depress the release button. The bottom swings open and the dirt and debris fall out into the waste basket. Then, turn the dust bin upside down, lower it into the waste basket again, and depress the release button for the lid to dump out any debris that has gathered in the upper chamber (Labrador undercoat hair seems to get stuck in there, so I do have to tap it so the hair falls out). Maybe you live in a new house, but I don't. My house is very old, and we have the windows open as much as possible, so between the Kansas wind and the old house, we have dust like you wouldn't believe. I dust using the vacuumm and the dusting brush. We also have two dogs, one of which (a Labrador Retriever) sheds enough that I could probably knit a whole new dog each week with his sheddings. Therefore, we vacuum every day. The bedroom where the kennel sits fills the dust bin with hair at least once and sometimes twice per vacuuming. Speaking of the dust bin, here's one thing I consider a design flaw: the fine mesh filter up inside the upper chamber of the dust bin is not removeable. It can get clogged with super-fine dust (especially if your child has vacuumed up something slightly wet, but also just with regular use), which lessens the suction power. It would be so nice and much easier to be able to remove that mesh cup to wash it. Since you can't, the way to keep it unobstructed or to clean it once it is clogged is to use a long-handled nylon bristle scrub brushโwith the bristles dry, of courseโto brush/scrape the mesh, then lower the dust bin into the waste basket and tap it to remove the fine dust. Fine dust is also, guaranteed, going to fill up your filters, so my suggestion is to buy one or a few spare filter sets. Don't throw them away. We blow them out with our air compressor (although you could probably just beat the dust out of the two triangular filters like an old-fashioned housewife beats a rug), tie themโthe two triangular filters, not the hepa filterโinto a pillowcase, wash them in the washing machine, and dry them in the dryer with no fabric softener. (Update: I no longer wash my two triangular filters in a tied-closed pillowcase like a caveman. Now I use a mesh lingerie bag.) (Update 2: I now just spray them clean with a powerwasher outside on the sidewalk or back patio when I change filters if it's summertime. Or, even better, have hubs do it for me.) Another tip: If your vacuum begins to smell not so fresh (say, like a giant dog butt), put a few of those fabric softener pellets/beads (like Downey Unstoppables) between the two triangular filters. They are dry, so they won't harm anything, but they will cause the vacuum to put out their scent each time you use it, which is much, much more pleasant than giant-dog-butt scent. When their scent wears out (or when you replace the filters with clean ones), just replace the beads with new. Aaaaanyway, I did finally order a spare vacuum, just in case. When it arrived, I opened the box to find I had been sent a used vacuum. Gross! Hair in the brushes, hair and dirt in the dust bin. Oh my gosh, so disgusting. Hubs made it worse by pointing out I could have been sent a vacuum someone WITH BEDBUGS had used and returned. (The strangest part is that the box had a label from another department store.) The Amazon customer service representative facilitated a return and replacement, which I received yesterday. You'll be relieved to note it was brand new, never used. I assembled it (took approximately 1.35 minutes), and I plan to keep it upstairs, mostly unused until my original one finally gives up the ghost.

Lovingly call this my Sharknado
I don't get paid for reviews. I just want to put that up front. So I've had the same Dyson vacuum for many years and it's still great, however, we moved into a quad-level home and hauling that thing up and down stairs was a no-go. I picked up this vacuum, which I lovingly now call my Sharknado, on a special for $150 on Amazon, not sure that I would even like it but the deal was good and there was a video of a guy vacuuming pet hair. I have two large German Shepherds who shed a ton and from the video it looked like it was high quality suction. So long story short this was the most amazing purchase ever. I really love how the head is narrow .. I can get into a lot more tight spaces than I can with my Dyson. It picks up loads of dog hair with no problem, has adjustable section settings, and is just beyond powerful. I waited a few weeks before I wrote this review so that I could be the most help to someone else. I easily would have paid the full $200 price knowing what I know now and still may pick up another one so that I don't have to go up one flight of stairs. Although it is very much lighter than my Dyson and much easier to transport around. This is a great vacuum!

Affordable, but Falls Short
Initially, I was very impressed with this vacuum. The suction was excellent, and it was lightweight enough that it didnโt aggravate my back pain. Unfortunately, after about a month, the suction power noticeably diminished. I took the vacuum apart and cleaned the filters, which improved the suction for about a week, but it soon started losing power again. The biggest flaw in the design is the vacuumโs stability. The slightest bump or movement can cause it to tip over, and itโs even worse when using the hose extension. The hose is already quite short, and you canโt extend it to its full length without the vacuum toppling over. The price is reasonable, but unfortunately, thatโs about the only thing this vacuum has going for it. While it started out strong, the declining suction and poor stability make it difficult to recommend.

Great vacuum strong suction
Wonderful vaccum I can go around my whole house(1 floor) without unplugging it. Hasnโt clogged its not flimsy. Easy to assemble. Great for the price when itโs on sale. Only downside is the suction is too strong for my living room rug and my entryway rug even when I release the vent. It just sucks it up

not suitable for KSA
should be removed from Saudi Website as the Voltage is not compatible. I will have to purchase a step down transformer now, which will almost double the cost for me. there was no such information in listing.

Versatile and effective, and great value for the money
I bought this vacuum about a month ago after doing a good amount of research, and I am very happy so far with its performance. Key points: - It is not overly heavy, as some other reviews may have indicated. - The ability to detach the main canister and to use the wand is a game changer. It was pointed out in some other reviews that the hose stiffens to the point that it becomes too short. That is simply not the case -- it stretches out easily. - The unit has a cord whether operated as an upright vacuum or with the detached portable canister. The cord is not a burden in either of its modes. The vacuum should be held by the canister handle when operated in detached mode, and there is no reason to hold the cord. - The level of suction on carpet is very powerful. Importantly, though, users have the ability to adjust the level of suction by turning a section close to the handle. - **My vacuum did not come with the microfiber pad that is pictured** The ability to turn off the brushes is great for preventing scratches on hard wood floors. Because the brushes are not used, however, the vacuum will not pick up absolutely everything. This is a necessary compromise. This vacuum is best used for a "first over" of hard wood floors, and then followed up with by a other cleaning methods. - The canister holds a lot of dirt and does not need to be emptied often. Additionally, it's fairly easy to dispose of its contents. - I paid $222.38 CDN for it over amazon.ca I cannot comment too much on the effectiveness of the HEPA filter or how often it needs to be replaced because I have owned the unit for only about a month.

Another quality Shark product
This is a workhorse. Love the aesthetic. Powerful clean. It's heavier than I would like a d uainvt he house is awkward as hose is so stiff but otherwise I would recommend. I clean homes and carry it with me and it's holding up well many months later. Still looks new. Easy to clean.

Amazing vacuum with a few cons!
I want to be able to give it a 5 because of the suction, but there are a few cons. The first is it is super loud and heavy! Itโs a good workout though. I wish there was a spot for the small pet brush on the unit as well. Itโs not as easy to empty as my Dyson. I am finding that I have to use my hands to get all the debris out, as well as both the top and bottom latches to dump the debris. The fact that the suction is the BEST, makes up for the cons for sure! Worth the price for sure!!!

OMG where has this R2D2 vacuum been all my life?
My wife calls this R2D2, lol. I looks a bit like a scifi robot. We've only ever bought cheap vacuums, and never thought to ever try something at least a bit more expensive than the rock bottom priced vacuums. Our cheap vacuum's belt broke and found it was doing such a poor just and it got so disgusting after all this time, that I'd figure, ok, let's try to see if life can be better. I used Consumer Reports to let me home in something that doesn't suck from above but sucks good from below :-) It was between a few choices. This particular vacuum has some good reviews, so I decided to choose this one. Apparently there are other models of this brand that look similar but that don't have as much suction power. Consumer Reports reports some as having mediocre suction power. But this particular one, is sucking on steroids! On thick carpet you basically get a workout moving this thing about. This *could* be a problem for some. Apparently there is a way to let it purposely leak air in, and that might be a great workaround, but in our case, we like the power that comes with it. Our upstairs carpet is a bit thinner, and with that it is much easier to use. No problem in fact. Where it becomes hard to move is on our living plushy carpet. But then something unexpected happened. The canister filled up entirely with tiny dust particles. It became solid gray. It detected that it could no longer suck, and a safety valve kicked in. It's really fool proof. So it *actually* sucked all that from inside and under the carpet. The previous vacuum wasn't grabbing this at all! I had to empty the canister many times by the time I vacuumed the whole house! The house was never clean before, I guess. One of the reasons it works so well, aside from its awesome power, is because the bristles are motorized! There is an electric motor in that bottom part! Instead of using slippy belts that draw from the main motor, it uses a geared belt that connects to a separate motor. It detects if it gets stuck and turns off that motor. Brilliant, again, fool proof! That belt will probably not break. But I went on youtube to see if it is possible to fix *IF* it'd ever breaks. No problem! You can find replacement belt / bristle kits and it's no problem at all! So because the bristles are motorized, you get to choose if you want the bristles to run or not. So on a wooden floor you can roll this thing around super easy. It's nice and gentle on the floor, with proper wheels. And so many features! You can detach the bottom part with ease. Great for the stairs! You can detach the hose and is comes with this bristle attachment that *actually* works! It gets its spin from the suction power, and you'd think it'd never work well, but it really actually does! This is really very well designed, intelligent product! The designers really did a very good job on this. All the plastic is all made from good solid materials. There is absolutely nothing flimsy about it. My wife calls it R2D2 but to me it's more like a Tesla vacuum :-)
