Alpine 8" Touchscreen Audio Video Navigation Receiver X008U

The X008U has been discontinued by Alpine, and it's a shame, this is a great unit. I've only had it up and running in my truck for a couple of days, but I'm very satisfied with it so far. The X008U has the exact same bones as the X009 series of radios that Alpine offers as their "Restyle" radio kits for newer cars and trucks. Alpine called the installation kits for the X008U radios the "Perfect F.I.T." kit, and I used one of these kits to install this radio in my 2015 RAM 2500 and it fits perfectly and looks like it came from the factory with this radio in it. I replaced a kenwood DNX892 with this radio and it is so much better than that one. And the screen size is so much bigger that it makes everything easier to see, the navigation maps and the backup camera image. And the Navigation on the Alpine radio's is based on the NAVTEQ maps, and it is TONS more user friendly than the terrible garmin navigation in the kenwood radios. Like I said, too bad Alpine discontinued this radio, it is a very nice system. We'll see how it works over time, but so far so good.

Pretty good unit, tons of features. I only have 2 problems with it, when listening to Sirius radio, the song will "pop" like you are plugging a headphone jack into the computer randomly. I don't know if it is a problem with my Sirius unit or the radio itself. Doesn't happen often enough to truly be mad at it though. Second is it is 2015, how can we still not make something like a car radio start up faster than the 15-20 seconds or so it takes to turn on? Other than that everything is good!
