A nice mug that stands out with a few quirks
I bought this to replace an 18 oz similar mug that I broke. I really liked that mug. I drink strong tea and felt that was a good size to be able to brew a nice cup and just leave the tea bag in. Much of my review will be comparing this new mug to the old one because I considered the old one perfection. I know that doesn't sound helpful since the reader of this doesn't understand the object of comparison. However; I feel it gives me a basis on which to judge the new mug.The mug is sturdy, the handle is ergonomic and balanced to the mug when full. Too many mugs tend to have a pivot point on the handle where the mug will tip when full if not grasping the handle firmly. This one does not have that problem. I like the looks (color and shape) of the mug but the surface is a bit shiny and tends to show fingerprints and drips. I believe the mug would have been better a little smaller (say 18 oz) because the base is kind of small for it's height. It makes it a little more likely to tip when knocked than average mugs. My last mug was a similar shape but smaller and tended to wobble but not fall over when knocked. I haven't actually tested this one but I can tell it is less stable. I appreciate that the inside is glazed dark. It is harder to see what is building up. Others may not like this but since I season my mugs, I think some people were grossed out by it in my last one (which had white glazing inside). On to the biggest controversy (in the comments) about this: the lid. People need to understand that this is not a spill-proof travel mug. It doesn't even make sense for that. If you want a travel mug, get one made out of metal with a real top. The lid appears designed for two purposes:1) Keeping the contents warmer for longer2) Preventing splash spills when walking with a full mugI can't say that it does a great job keeping liquids warmer but it does prevent splashes over the side when walking. The problem is that I don't really like the molded in groves to keep the top in place. It makes drinking a little awkward as the liquid must travel over a ledge before leaving the container. Also, you can feel that ledge on your lip when you drink. This has caused me to spill on myself a few times. Yes, I need to learn to drink out of a mug as silly as that sounds. I feel that once I get the hang of it, I will be fine but I did knock a star off for this. In fairness, the spills occurred when attempting to drink with the lid on so I may end up just not using the lid to see if that helps.I think the manufacturer should probably offer one without the lid for a dollar less. They may find it is a better seller and higher rated.

Heavy Yet Classy
I enjoy the size of this mug not alot of selection available at this capacity, always stick a straw through it for my own reasons.Ceramic has its pros as well as its cons. One of its many pros is that is stays warm for a decent amount of time, 90 mins, if you preheat it; which i do as the coffee maker is moving.another pro is the fact that the rigidity on this mug is excellent; couple short falls, always slam it down on the desks, subway ride with it in a bag colliding with a hand rail as the rail rocks due to imperfections.Nice glazing job as well no missed spots or edgesConsthe lid is horrible to drink out ofevery decision made is a trade off to begin with however the lid is something i can live withmy solution to this is to stick a straw through it,I hope to enjoy this mug for years to comeHas a permanent spot on my desk..

best travel mug
It is my favorite travel mug ever. It is large and ceramic with NO plastic anywhere. I was it in the dishwasher. I would rate it a 5 star if it was not so top heavy and fragile. Otherwise if you can keep clumsy co workers away it should last quite some time. I've owned 5 of them since one particular co worker has broken 3 of them and kindly NOT offered to replace them. Now I just leave it in the car.

NIce but has limits
I bought this travel mug primarily because it's made in the USA. I like it but had to subtract two stars from my rating. The mug gets very hot and beverages lose heat quickly. This heat loss is due to the ceramic material but nonetheless, it's a negative trait. Also, the cup tall and when filled with a beverage, it's top heavy. Depending upon the type of cup holder in your car, you'll need be alert that it could tip over even while in the cup holder.

Could be improved...
I like the size and shape, and I looked hard for a ceramic one. But it has a couple of problems:1) Loose lid allow spilling just from sloshing around (never mind tipping over), so not really suitable for a car mug.2) Glaze stains quickly with coffee crud, so needs frequent cleaning.Mine doesn't tip over like the previous commentator's.

Item Is Just as Promised
This item is identical to its description - big and ceramic - and thus microwave proof. I'm highly pleased. The lid is plastic and just a bit flimsy, but what's the alternative? It can't be made of metal or it wouldn't be microwave safe.

Mug
I like the Travel Mug but the things I don't like is you can't drink from the mug unless you remove the cover. I also don't like the lip of the mug.

Remember it's ceramic!
Because it's ceramic, it's not nearly as durable as a stainless steel or plastic mug. So be prepared. Also, you're hot drink is going to cool off quickly.
