From the Deep South below sea level.
The Hunt Track had mixed reviews but once I received the unit it was spot on straight out the package. The compass was spot on in comparison to a I- phone's compass. Especially once you start walking around for a minute. It seems to tighten or lock in your co-ordinance. "Refer to Bushnell's" video procedure to "CALIBRATE" it's compass accuracy. I'd recommend being familiar with the procedure especially before a hunt! I've yet to try it out down here in the dense woods of the deep south below sea level, so I can't comment on it's performance just yet. Although I have tried it in a vast area of woods on logging roads, it performed perfectly. I didn't understand it's concept like turning it off, but now that I've used it, it's very simple. GPS doesn't matter when or whether you turn it off. Once you've mark a location's spot/co-ordinance, climber stand etc, it holds the spot in it's memory & can always take you back & point you to that spot's/co-ordinance, once it's turned back on & acquired a signal again.Hope this shed some light for any fellow hunters on this GPS. I'd highly recommend this product to any outdoors-man!PS: Had to download & print out the instruction manual. This file takes time to download so it won't print all pages if you don't wait long enough before printing."Take your son hunting & you'll never again have to go hunting for your son"! Larry D.

All good except for the compass readings
It works as advertised, but I am not so sure about the compass feature, the compass keeps showing different readings even if I walk in a straight line. I did all kinds of recalibration methods shown on the manual as well as the videos shown on Bushnell TV but no go, I simply can not rely on the compass feauture to find my truck or whatever I marked, just this Saturday , I went on hunting and I knew where my truck was , however the Hunttrack was showing another direction even if I walked directly towards my truck !!! If I followed the Hunttrack I was goýng to end up in the heavy bushes....I compared the hunttrack compass with my phone's compass and another compass, both compasses showed correct readings while Hunttrack kept showing inconsistent readings. Imagine this, you drive towards North but Huntrack shows N then N.E then W then E. etc, the compass will not show consistent correct reading.Apart from that, it is fine, however it would be nice if Air Pressure showed the values in Mbar as well. Finally the Bread Crumbs function, if you travel much, the map just zoom outs, I wish there was a button to ZOOM IN to see where exactly I have been through exactly, it is hard to follow the Bread Crumbs when the map is zoomed out.Overall it is a good product but needs so refining and modification on the compass. The review before me above had the same problem with the compass showing inconstent readings.

Basic GPS - nothing special
Good basic GPS I use for hunting. Able to find Lat / Long location anywhere. The direction arrow does not always point in the exact direction when trying to find one of the 25 points marked with the unit but it does give a general heading. Does not show terrain on the unit but when connected to the computer the terrain can be brought up. Easy to figure out how to use. The mapping features used on the Hunttrack computer application are so so. You can not use the same number or icon more than once on the application. If you record multiple tracks on the computer you can not duplicate any numbers or icons. They simply disappear from the previous track if you use them a second time.

Concept great, unfortunately, a really bad product
A simple GPS with a variety of additional features. Great idea-if it worked as stated. It doesn't. The first unit I ordered arrived with a defective USB cable. The altimeter was off by 50-90 feet-which, since altitude requires talking to satellites, means that other calculations made by the GPS could be erroneous as well. The unit froze when disconnected from the Hunt Track software, necessitating pulling a battery to get the thing to turn off. I talked to Bushnell Tech support-nice folks-who determined that I had a bad board in the little fella, and I should return the unit to Amazon for replacement. I did. And guess what? The new unit has an innacurate altimeter, refuses to be "safely disconnected" from a Windows computer (pull the batteries), and the breadcrumbs clearing function of Bushnell's software doesn't work with any of our computers-leaving the trip window a confused, gooey mess. I am now returning unit #2 to Amazon for a refund, since obviously the product does not work as agreed. In my original and subsequently edited review for the product, I said I'd write a more positive review for the Hunt Track if the replacement performed to spec. It does not. This is a potentially dangerous device for those who rely on accurate GPS services, and a frustrating series of failures in store for users.Prior to returning this unit, I attempted to contact Bushnell support one more time. Their online form for tech support is not currently functional (and it takes forever for their site to load). I give up.Sadly, if the Hunt Track just did what Bushnell says it would do, this would be a 5 star review. How cool that would be.
