Very handy calculator
As an engineer, I am programming and setting up new jobs daily. Feeds and speeds are nearly an art than a number you can get from a book. Each insert grade, material type, hardness, type of cut, type of machine all play factors in feed and speeds. The Machinery's Handbook can give you an estimate on what it should be but after you run the part adjustments are usally needed. Watching and listen to the cut is really where you dial in the correct feeds and speeds. Vendors usally have a closer estimate than a handbook. That said, putting a table for feeds and speeds for every situation is impossible. I can't not fault this calcuator for not having a chart do to this. As for the other features, I thought this calculator has plenty of them. I won't go threw all of them but one thing I like to mention is its ability to store certain data. I will give you an example: If I wanted to calculate an RPM in need to enter a diameter and Cut Speed (SFM). Say a decide that I want to increase my SFM; I can go back and re-enter the SFM and the calulator will update the answer. I can even re-enter the RPM and the SFM will update as well. I do not need to erase and start from scatch because the other information still resides in it. I can erase it all by pressing the ON button twice. This calculator is very handy and I can't see why anyone would give a bad review. I think this calculator was well thought out and works great. The price is a bit steep but anything that is specialized typically is. I highly recommend this item.

Great for routine tedious calculations in the machine shop
This calculator does all calculations involved in conventional machining including pre-programmed standards for tap, drill and threads. It does not however have recommended cutting speeds as noted by other reviewers. So it's a good idea to have a machinery handbook or ready reference handy for this as well as if you need info on the aforementioned standards. If you're a design engineer or into prototyping you'll probably need at least an engineer's advanced graphing calculator or appropriate software for your laptop. This is of limited value for calculations of complex geometries. There is a newer version out now which does have material data-cutting speeds and I would most likely rate that a 5. For what it does it's a handy tool.

Best Plastic Brain Any Machinist Could Wish For
I have only just got my head around most of the features available on this device and in the short time I have been using it I have wondered how I managed without it. The threading data alone has proved most useful and has negated many wasted trips across the shop floor to look at charts. The Zeus book has become all but redundant however Machinery's Handbook still has its place. The trig functions have proved their worth as have the speed and feed calculations. I have read that one of the shortcomings of this calculator is the lack of material data relating to cutting speeds but with new cutting tools coming out a lot of this information would be redundant in no time. I have used this calculator for turning, milling, drilling, reaming and grinding and all these processes require different parameters that are easley handled. This calculator has proved its worth in the time I have had it.

Great little calculator
This thing is really handy since I have a mental glitch when switching from thousandths to fractions and vice versa. Occasionally I work with a friend in woodworking and he lives in a fractional world, I live in a decimal one, and rarely the two shall meet. The drill sizing has come in handy since I forget through hole vs. threading sizes and it saves me a trip to the lookup table, and once I move into CNC here at home I'm sure I'll find the rest helpful. Got here when it was supposed to, works great, and survives my 120 plus degree shop in the summer....I'll call it a win:)

Awesome calculator for a machinist or Q.C. dept.
There's a little bit of a learning curve for the more advanced functions but the basics like fraction conversion, thread specs, and feeds and speeds are pretty easy and useful quite quickly. The keypad seems to sometimes activate other ones around the button you actually pushed occasionally, but other than that it seems to be holding up just fine in a machine shop environment. It's worth it just for the threading specs and mm to inches button, let alone all the other functions.

Use all most every day
A great tool for all you machining needs stores all the charts and tables in this handy multi use calculator. Stores all the drill and tapping charts for all SAE and Metric threading of all sizes and from internal to external threads. Need to know what drill size to use an plug in the values and it will give you all the specs needed. Can find your speeds and feeds for cutting of any size from any type of machine great uses.

Very Helpful
I bought this calculator to replace a Ti-95 I had. The only reason I don't give it five stars is because it seems to have trouble giving 3-wire data on thread sizes over one inch. ( but you can do it you just have to mess around a little ). Other than that, it works great giving me my SFM, drill sizes, trig numbers (very easy) and bolt hole circle diminsions. I recomend it.

Useful instrument
I was amazed with it from the very first time I used it, and no longer have to refer to my Machinist Handbook for drill sizes for tapping, or sitting down and figuring out bolt patterns for flanges, just a few clicks and all the X's and O's are there for me. The instruction booklet is very easy to understand and follow. I only wish I would have purchased one sooner.
