Good product for the cook venturing into Japanese cuisine, dashi is a staple so it’s nice to have this for when you are low on time and cannot shave simmer and strain the bonito flakes.

I kept trying to make udon, miso soup, and other dishes without being able to find dashi flakes anywhere local. I kept making these dishes without dashi flakes and wondering why they didnt taste the same. I kept looking to see if any of my local stores have dashi flakes but couldnt find any. I eventually came here. I have dashi flakes. I have made at least 30 cups of miso soup in the past month and I wish I ordered this 5 years ago. Dont skip the dashi flakes. Maybe order a smaller size bag than this if you dont eat miso soup every day. Bag is resealable but I worry about how long it will hold on the shelf. Miso soup: dashi flakes + miso paste Udon: dashi flakes + soy sauce + mirin Refine above recipes and have a nice life now that you have high quality dashi flakes.

I use Hondashi soup base in almost everything. If a savory recipe calls for salt, why not add a little smokey flavor by using Hondashi instead. I only purchase it in the 2 pound size. I store the bulk of it in the freezer where it will last for a couple of years.

I like the resealable zipper. Taste really good. easy to open.

Great product, resealable package os a pain to open

Love the taste of this in my soups and Japanese egg rolls. I ran out and had to order some more. Sure beats messy around making it from scratch. Just spoon it up and add it to my broths, can't get any easier than that.

Ajinomoto has been my preferred dashi for years, this one has the usual quality and flavour and also a working resealable packaging. Price was reasonable. Will buy again.
