good compact, easy to use, lightweight family tent....
My other tent is a 5m canvas Bell Tent which myself, four children and a dog have fabulous family camping trips with. However it needs a big car to transport and as we plan to do some cycle touring and camping in a tiny car(as its more economical for long distances) i needed a lightweight compact family tent that can be put up on my own in a short time (ideally around ten minutes). sounds an impossible ask, i thought so... until i found the Hoolie 6. We have just spent a week ay Edale in the Peak District in the Hoolie 6. one adult, four children and a dog and a weeks worth of camping gear and seven days with of food in a Peugeot 208! YES!! Anyway the tent is easy to put up and took less than ten minutes. it rained a lot during our stay and we stayed dry in the tent. we didn't have any condensation as there is a gap of a few inches around the bottom of the fly which i have to say does create a draught. the living area is spacious enough for a couple of chairs and a small table even if there are bags of food and clothes. so ok for a a few board games during wet weather. it doesn't have a floor so as we didn't have a footprint we used a spare tarp on the floor. the main sleeping area didn't quite fit four SIMS so we had to overlap them and there was a bit of room at the smaller end for some small bags and books. the children had that section and i slept in the two man section with the dog. we slept with the compartments open, they have very large doors that when fully open can be packed in the side pocket out of the way. the two man section would be a tight fit for two people to be honest and the one on the outside would have a sloping side over them so the risks of the inner touching the outer during rain would be extremely high. for what we wanted it for its going to be a great tent. five of us fit fine, when cycle touring it fits nicely in our Burley Nomad Trailer. the bikes can fit into the living area during bad weather and to keep them secure at night. The only thing it does really need is a footprint. As it packs away as one piece the inner sleeping mesh gets wet and muddy from the ground sheets when packing away, i tried to dry it off and clean it but the bigger section was impossible. having a footprint would enable it to be packed away mud free even after a week in wet weather. I have ordered one for our next trip.
