Brix 2251 JarKey Metal Jar Opener

I thought, really? That thing is going to open my jars, the ones I see others struggling with? Yes, yes it can! Not the pretties kitchen utensil, but effective. Easy to use every time. I was surprised at how heavy it was. Seems like it will last my lifetime. Definitely worth the price!

This Brix JarKey Metal Jar Opener is outstanding! I was about to order two more for gifts, until I noticed that they doubled in price over the last 25-months, now running 20.74 dollars on 25FEB2017. There are two problems with it, but I am still giving it 5-stars. It does not work on lids over half an inch tall, but it works well for 98% of lids which I need to open, including preparing large meals for a non-profit fundraiser. The second problem is that it will walk away if taken to a Christmas party and one loses track of it. I have lots of tools to open stubborn jar lids, none of them alone will handle every jar, but this is usually my first choice and it is smaller than all of the other tools. This is especially nice for commercial size jars. I am a guy who normally does not need any tool to open most jar lids, but a tool like this is needed for the 10% which are a challenge to open by force alone. I do not recall ever finding a jar lid under half an inch tall that this tool would not allow one to open it with two fingers, after the seal is relaxed and the pressure is equalized in the jar. I worry at over twenty-dollars a copy, that the Chinese will soon be making them. Definitely overpriced, but still worth the cost for those who sometimes are challenged to open jar lids. I am shocked that only 21 users have reviewed this outstanding tool over the last two years. Below is my short, original review: Very handy tool for when a jar will not open. Only need it about once a month, but it is well worth the price when we need it.

This is a big help with opening new jars that have a pressure lock. To be honest, you could do similar with an old-fashioned bottle opener, but this doesn't damage the lids.

Getting older so grip strength is weakening bought this to open jar jars, etc. works well

Breaks the lid vacuum easily. I would however prefer stainless steel instead of aluminum. I clean honey or molasses glass jar threads with hot water and a clean dish rag

This little tool is incredible!! At 65 years old, I can finally open sealed jars with no problem! I've always used this, "pry up the lid edge to break the seal" method, but some jars are just impossible to find anything that will work. Very frustrating sometimes! This seems to work on them all. Now, we're talking about regular lids like you find in the store on jam, pickle, sauce, etc jars. NOT FOR CANNING JAR LIDS AND RINGS! It works surprisingly well! I was shocked at how little pressure I had to use to pop the lid! I spent years searching for and buying products that didn't work, in an effort to make opening jars easier for my elderly Aunt. Everything was clumsy, confusing or plain junk. I sure wish I'd been able to find this for her. But I'm sure using it, as well as my sister, who gets terrible cramps and has limited strength in her hands. It's fantastic! I don't mind the price because it works perfect and being metal, it should last forever. It's sturdy and lightweight! A great little tool!

I heard about these over social media. Did not know they existed. These are so helpful to open jars. I was even able to use it for a canning jar lid on a jar that was given to me. The lid must have been "welded" on with sugar as it was applesauce and nothing worked until I tried this JarKey. I would highly recommend this.

I love the Jar Key and thought this would be an upgrade from the plastic one that wore out after many years. It's heavy and since I put it into the dishwasher the aluminum is dark and discolored. Get the plastic one - it lasts plenty long, is easier to find in the drawer, and lighter to handle. These are the best jar-opening gadget ever created.
