Style:PB-235 with Bluetooth Adapter The H-PAS PowerBar 235 is a 42"-long self-powered soundbar that delivers multi- channel high-fidelity sound for your home entertainment system. It features Atlantic's patented H-PAS bass system, which produces deep, distortion-free bass without the need for a subwoofer. Using just two 4" woofers, the H-PAS PowerBar 235 reaches down to a solid 47 Hz at very high theater-like SPLs, for an absolutely convincing and totally satisfying sonic experience. The PB 235 is powered by an on-board amplifier that supplies 80 total watts RMS. It also boasts a sophisticated Digital Signal Processing with Dolby Digital and DTS that delivers two-channel sound and effectively develops a 3- or 5-channel experience for total immersion. Plus, the H-PAS PowerBar 235's digital display can be "flipped" to read correctly whether the unit is sitting on a table or inverted on a flat-screen mount. This package also comes with the BTA-50 Bluetooth Audio Adapter. The BTAA-50 is a small "black box" receiver that when connected to the PB-235 enables streaming audio from any Bluetooth device. It turns your PB-235 into a wireless sound system for all your Bluetooth devices in an instant. Atlantic use aptX technology for the highest quality audio streaming and NFC pairing for the simplest connection to Android phones.

Great Sound, Decent Value
I have a dedicated home theater room, but I purchased this soundbar for the bedroom. The sound is great, including the bass which makes a subwoofer unnecessary. As advertised, it does provide a nice surround sound effect. Also, I find dialog easier to understand even without using its "speech mode".Audio input is via digital coaxial or optical inputs. There are no HDMI connections, so it cannot do DTS-HD Master Audio or Dolby TrueHD, but regular Dolby Digital and DTS sound great. The remote is cr-p. I was able to program my DVR remote with its code (the soundbar uses Marantz receiver code), but I could only get the volume control and mute to work. The power on/off doesn't work and the other functions are apparently not supported. Of course, volume control is what is used the most so lack of the other functions isn't too bad.Lack of HDMI connections means switching sources is a two step process: on the TV and on the soundbar. HDMI in/out with some type of video switching would be convenient.Overall, I'm quite pleased with this soundbar. It provides great sound and decent value because it obviates the need and inconvenience of additional speakers and a subwoofer. It lists for $899 but I paid $799 here on Amazon.

A True Alternative to a Full 5.1 System
After reading several, reviews on this soundbar, I decided to buy one. Better than expected sound wise however it is big, kind of clunky looking and the remote is 'cheesy'. But I bought it for the sound and it delivered that! I did not expect a full 5.1 experience or room shaking bass but it delivers more of both than I expected. When you are in the sweet spot, it delivers a spacious soundstage with good side effects but no rear. It delivers a good clean bass but a separate subwoofer would not hurt. I can live without that because if I really wanted to get the full 5.1 experience, I would go to the family room where I have a home theater setup using Denon, Sony and Definitive Technology components. The 235 is great for our living room especially for watching HBO content that is in 5.1. The Speech function is really effective for dialogue while the 5 channel enhanced works best for active soundtracks like 'War of the Worlds' which happened to be on the other day when I demonstrated the 235 for a friend - he was impressed. You hear details that get lost on TV speakers, good solid bass, very clear dialogue, and a surprising amount of sound effects that seem to come from the sides rather than the front. One caveat - do not run the sound from your TV to the 235 unless you know that it will pass Dolby or DTS - hook directly to the source. The 235 a true alternative to a full blown 5.1 system - not as good but far better than your TV speakers!

GREAT SPEAKER FOR THOSE WHO NEED TO HEAR BOTH THE MUSIC AND DIALOGUE
These deliver good full sound for music and when we need it, they deliver clear dialogue. We leave the setting on 3c because that puts the voice in the primary position. The extended sound settings (5) do disperse the sound if one is listening to orchestral music.Mostly we use these for TV shows and movies and they work great for that purpose. They probably are not great for critical audiophiles who only listen to music, but they DO deliver full sound with plenty of bass and good highs.I would recommend them to anyone who wants to hear the dialogue while still having plenty of movie sound effects. Our TV room is about 20 by 20 and we sit about 12-13 feet from the speaker. They fill the room with sound.

Sounds Awesome!
I received my Atlantic Technology PB-235 and had it set up within 20 minutes! I already own a complete Atlantic Technology 5.1 home theater surround system and outdoor speakers and love their sound. We have had them forever with no issues.I didn’t have space to clutter my room with a receiver and subwoofer, so this was the perfect solution. I just hooked it up directly to the TV through the optical connections and was ready to go.There was an immediate improvement in the sound of everything we watched. We spent some time with the different modes and settled on the 3 channel mode with speech enhancement when we watch our regular shows. With a push of a button on the remote, we change it to 5 channel mode with great surround effects when we are watching our movies. The bass is awesome for no subwoofer and I can imagine it would be absolutely incredible if you wanted to add a sub for a bigger room.We even listen to music through it and it sounds incredible!I eventually mounted the system on the wall with the “pod” facing down and it looks awesome. This is so easy to set up, looks great and has incredible sound without a subwoofer!

Simple for a simple person
I don't get sound stuff - I am honestly unsure what an "amplifier" does and when I need one, I really hate cables and while I have some money, I don't want to spend the world on subwoofers and satellites and things and I don't know what they are.I bought this because I wanted some nice sound simply - I stick it in front of the projector screen and that is it. One plug to plug into the power socket, one cable to attach my laptop to the speakers.I'm absolutely delighted with the sound, the bass is really quite good. I don't regularly ramp it up all the way - I'm a somewhat considerate neighbour - but the one time i did it sounded very satisfying.Combined with the projector screen and I do feel like i'm watching something pretty epic.Setup was easy - i unpacked it, stuck it where i want and that is it. I don't know how good it does "surround" sound, admittedly - i keep it on the 3 channel - and I don't know how i would "test" that. It seems to go up to 5 channels, again I don't know if it does that well or not.I just think it sounds nice and is simple to setup. Doesn't look ugly either, just like a big black thing.
