You NEED this if you're shooting people in 'tight' spaces! **Updated**
I am blown away! This is one big umbrella and I love it! Some of the areas that I shoot in aren't super spacious, so I can't always position the light off to the side. This umbrella solves that problem BY BEING HUGE!! There is so much surface area, that you can stand right in front of the light, and not cast a giant shadow on your subject. Great thing to have in your arsenal for shoots! This one item will give you a TON of flexibility in your studio, either personal or professional! Fantastic! **Update** While I stand by my original review, I have returned this umbrella (upon closer inspection, this particular umbrella had some issues, so I decided to send it back) and moved on to the Westcott umbrella instead. There are differences to these 2 umbrellas, which are very subtle and I would imagine that most people won't notice or mind the differences. For me, they are significant enough to warrant spending the extra $20. That, and Westcott's quality is very well known, with serious photogs telling me they've had their Westcott gear for decades! I've included a few pics to show those differences. (first pic shows them both side-by-side; Westcott on the left, Impact on the right and 3 feet further away, which is why it looks smaller! ;) ) First, is the build quality of the umbrella: you can see that the material at the apex of the ribs is assembled differently (2nd pic, Westcott; 3rd and 4th pic, Impact). This, to me, shows a slightly closer attention to detail for the Westcott. The 4th picture is a crop of the 3rd, showing the 'patch' of material at the top of the umbrella. It doesn't have an effect on the light, but it shows the difference in the attention to assembly quality. Yes, it's a minor thing, but it's telling, nonetheless. The difference in the quality of the silver reflective material is also a bit better on the Westcott; it's reflective without being 'shiny', which translates to a more diffuse lighting. You really can't go wrong with either of these umbrellas, as they will both work great for those tight areas. But for me, there is just enough small differences, when added together, to warrant the upgrade to the Westcott. I'm still very happy with the prom shots (see other reviews) that I got using the Impact umbrella, and firmly believe that this size is essential for single light photo shoots!

Great choice for mono-lights
Broad light source for portraits, products or scenes. With the silvered umbrella, I’d definitely recommend getting the diffusion cover. The cover is easy to slip over the open end and softens (diffuses) the light source. It keeps some of its directionality too. If you use outdoors, use a heavier stand and definitely use heavy sandbags, I like the axis of the umbrella source (the line through the stalk) to come down 30° to 45° and over from center the same amount for portraits, usually. Gives a very nice half-light at 80° to 90° over, and and up 15° to 25° — try ine, not much to lose. I may get a second for broader source or minor light use. Not sure if I’ll get a white one or a second silvered with a cover. Not sure about durability. In the long run (years) the silver will probably crack or flake off. I’ve seen that on older products. But for the investment, I think these are a good value and would get this umbrella/light modifier again.

Professional level parabolic umbrella, consumer level price
Extremely well made, lightweight, and provides a beautifully large source of light for portraits and fashion photography. I've used parabolic umbrellas for a while now, and they all provide excellent quality light. They are the key light source for 80% of the headshots you see for makeup and hair advertisements. This specific item is made with a solid construction and is a great way to give portraits and headshots a unique style POP for your clients. The only problem you're ever going to have, is finding a location with enough space for this 7+ ft. umbrella to go!!! Extremely happy with this purchase.

Amazing umbrella
This umbrella is awesome! It's huge and deep. I use it with my B800"s and with the sold-separately diffuser (a must have!) and it throws a very very soft and even light. I can barely get any shadows on the backdrop, even if I try. Very forgiving, you can put it almost anywhere and get very good light. Packs up in a little case and sets up in 3 to 4 minutes.

this thing is amazing. The one I got opens smoothly and everything ...
For the price, this thing is amazing. The one I got opens smoothly and everything is tight. Does seem a little fragile for the size, but just be careful with it and you'll be fine. Luckily I wont be traveling with it and once it's hung properly I wont be moving it. I personally love it.

Very Nice! Great Price!!
A beast!! I use it for everything. Makes great all over soft light, pretty lightweight and good construction. Just as good as the one I ordered before this. If I had one complaint, when your opening this umbrella, you do have to be a little more careful, it gets tangled in itself. Other than that, it's fast to put up and a great quality of light.

Best. Mod. Ever.
I don't know what I did before I bought this. Bigger than the ProFoto umbrellas, this bad boy (or gal) creates a huge light source, even if you're just using a single speed light. When used with the diffusion sock, it is a massive, soft light that drenches your subject. Weirdly, it can get a bit tangled when closed/closing so be sure to take some care with it. The only reason I might keep this in the bag is if I were shooting outdoors in ANY wind, as this umbrella basically becomes a really unnecessary kite. sweet home Chicago.

False advertising. You will receive a 69" diameter umbrella
False advertising. They claim the open diameter of the umbrella is 7 feet, but it is actually only 69 inches (5 feet 9 inches). That is a substantial difference in size.
