The Xylem D5 high-performance water pump motor with power management control (via PWM - pulse width modulation) of rotational speed from the motherboard BIOS or dedicated fan controller is a water pump New and updated D5 water that provides even more stability and longevity. EK-D5 PWM G2 is an improved variant of the famous Xylem D5 PWM pump that features an improved PWM controller. As a result, the PWM ramp-up control, duty cycle operation, and feedback are now identical to the DDC type pump. This product is compatible with any pump reservoir and pump combo unit of any EK-D5. The PWM control allows automatic regulation of the pump speed depending on the temperature of the CPU. Full performance on demand or silent operation in idle mode. This pump is ideal for water cooling of PCs and other electronic devices. The D5 pump is equipped with an electronically commutated spherical motor. In a spherical motor pump the only moving part is a spherical shaped rotor which in this pump is held in place by a ball bearing made of ultra hard wear resistant ceramic. Model: 3831109815496

How is this over other D5 Pumps?
So I had a Swiftech D5 PWM pump just like this. They actually look identical. I thought my Swiftech pump was going out because my flow rate was very bad after installing a new Distro Plate and CPU block. After installing the EK pump I was getting the same thing, slow flow. It turned out to be the Alphacool Eisblock CPU block and I had to return the CPU block. But I dont think this pump is 1500 LPH. The Swiftech states 1200 LPH and the EK states 1500LPH and they flow exactly the same. The pumps look and feel exactly the same except the stickers on the back. At full speed there is a tiny bit of wine noise but nothing bad. Its a very nice pump and goes from 800 to 4800 RPM on the PWM. Overall a very nice powerful pump. Pushes the flow pretty well at 3800 RPM and I have a EK Velocity CPU Block, Barrow GPU block, 360mm Distro Plate, 30mm thick 360mm Alphacool Rad, 45mm thick 360mm Alphacool Rad and a lot of 14mm tubing. Its a huge loop and this EK Pump pushes it and keeps my idle temps around 30C.

I normally don’t write reviews
I have to say, this pump is fantastic. So quiet I had to check if it was even running a couple times. I finally replaced an old d5 vario that I’ve used for the last 8 years. It was starting to vibrate a lot, and I have to say, this was the perfect fix. Don’t hesitate, this pump is great. Will update if it fails early.

Great pump!
Great pump, dead silent under 70% speed in my system. Very impressed.I have had other D5's that were noisy and vibrated a lot. This one just doesn't, even though they are technically all the same. Not sure what is different, but it is great!

Last about 6-12 months for me.
When they work they're nice and quiet and the PWM control is great. But they appear to have a durability problem. First pump lasted 6 months, second 12 months. This is in a PC that runs continuously, 24/7. I'm now looking at alternatives. First notice the problem that the pump won't start at lowest PWM level, then sometime later get completely loud failure (clicking/clanking/buzzing) and no water flow. I'm not new to water cooling, had a prior PC with two independent loops that ran for 5 years without any issue whatsoever. Factor in pulling everything apart and replacing parts periodically.

good?
as with other reviews, upon opening they did have like water markings and markers, I assume they were tested but just know they don't look sparkly clean out of the box. I run this pump at 60% since I run a two pump system and it runs pretty quiet.

Best D5 I've used (EK brand)
This is the 3rd D5 pump I've had for my water cooling system. The first 2 were from a different company (not EK), and both were not properly weighted/balanced, which made them vibrate like crazy. This led to much noise premature breaking of the pump (after almost exactly 1 year for each of them). This D5 pump from EK is perfectly balanced. Even at 100% speed (4700+ rpm), there is small buzz from operation, but no vibration at all. If you need a replacement D5 pump, definitely get the one made by EK!

Shame on you EK. You are better than this.
I must say, I'm not thrilled with this purchase. My pump arrived covered in crud on the outer part, the inner metal parts were stained like someone had used this with dyed fluid or something. I have no issue if EK tested the pump, but if that's the case they need to CLEAN THEM before shipping. I'm on the fence about returning it now as I don't want the headache of particles of crap appearing in my loop and cleaning this thing multiple times before use. With a pump, a soak, then a run with distilled water to clean anything out and go is how I usually do it. But this thing would need more than that, and the stains... Won't look good with an acrylic pump top. Third Amazon EK item I've ordered that's arrived like this. When you order from their site everything always shows up clean and new, but their shipping is silly expensive. This sucks. Please fix this EK. This is unacceptable. I love you and your products but these experiences are really making me question that.

Freakin Pumped!
This is my second EKWB pump to replace a Freezemod pump which failed after 8 hrs. Arrived quicker than shipping from Slovenia. Will update with pics and full product review post install. Thank you
