This is not a bad spur at all. Its pretty much standard equipment on the HPI Blitz. It is very durable if you center properly and set your mesh. I have used the same one almost every day for a year (with a brushless upgrade) without stripping it.If you are stripping these gears, and getting frustrated, make sure of 2 things.1. Make sure the gear is properly centered. It is easy to accidentally install this gear off center. Spin it a few times and try to feel if it gets "tighter and looser" as it spins; if so it is not properly centered.2. Make sure you set your gear mesh properly. The pinion should not touch the spur when the car is at idle. You should be able to rest your finger on the top of the spur and wiggle it a little back and forth and hear the spur and pinion click together because of the gap between them. The distance of the gap between the pinion tooth and spur tooth should be the same as the thickness of a piece of paper.Hope this helps. :)

These are a must for heavy use drivers. I'm surprised you don't sell them in a multi-pack. They are good for a few battery charges then need to be replaced.
