Bali: The Solo Girl's Travel Guide

Bought this for a trip I took in 2024 but just now getting to review the book. I loved all the tips as the author has first hand experience living in Bali. I followed this book the entire time I was on my 2 week solo female traveling adventure and it didn’t steer me wrong. The content is so well organized too.

The only Bali guide you’ll need with so many tips on things I wouldn’t even know to ask about. Love the things to see/do and those to skip. Also all of the resources for tours, rides, lodging…. Everything you need.

This book is what finally helped me plan my Bali trip and not only that it also gave great local trips Alexa learned living in Bali and because of that and trusting myself I said yes to a local that gave me the best 2 days in Ubud and a true local tour including taking me into his home and sharing a meal with me and his family and teaching me so much real about Bali customs and culture. It really made the best trip of my life and after 6 years of a life changing brain injury this book helped me finally plan my trip and yo be open to things which I once totally was without a brain Injury. This trip gave me back so much of what I lost and Alexa’s book was beyond helpful! I ordered Cambodia and Vietnam for next years solo trip and I hope to join her Ashland rafting trip, which is drivable for me!! Your book was amazing and the only book I needed. It read so easy and was so useful and helpful. I recommend her books for travel, it helped this brain injured girl have the best trip ever and totally safe.

Love the energy of this book, you can tell the authors really love helping women travel w/ease to Bali. It’s a fun read w/a lot of helpful tips.

This book offered so much information in an easy to digest format. Alexa shared resources that were transformational to our trip. From healer reviews to driver contact names. We used her beloved Wayan many times and he was better than advertised. I plan to leave this book in Bali for the next solo gal looking for help, inspiration and resources to add to her travel experience. Thank you!

This book is AMAZING! And a much needed purchase for your trip to Bali. While this is not my first solo trip to a far off land, this is my first solo trip to the other side of the world and I must say, this book (and Alexa!) put me at ease of all my worries and concerns. The book starts off with all those questions you may have right in the beginning - and she was right, this isn't a book that's written in a way that feels like you're reading a history textbook. She writes as though she's talking to you over a cup of coffee. Talking about Bali weather, what to pack, the culture norms, how to budget, what to avoid, things to know, how to prepare, and from the airport. She then takes you on a ride through many options for staying/eating/planning trips, etc. And last but not least, at the end of her journey, she settles you down with a list of Balinese food and what it is, to learning conversational Indonesian and what apps to download before you go. This book answers questions I didn't even know I had. And gives support in all the right spots. Trust me, it's totally worth it! PS, after purchasing the book I contacted Alexa on Instagram - she responded within 12 hours and answered all the questions I couldn't find in the book. Like, yes, you might want to stay a night in Amed if you want to see Pura Lempuyang from Ubud. She's awesome.

I like this book for the food selection of places to stay, places to visit and places to eat. The book is well organized and I especially appreciate the map. What really gives this a 5 star review though is Alexa. She is very accessible and has given me further advice and suggestions through instagram. It’s rare that you can buy a book and then message the author and recieve genuine and helpful responses. She is a true gem! I do wish the book had an itinerary and a more involved map but I did use google maps to map out my itinerary. In the end, you get much more than a book- you join a community of solo girl travellers!

This book was so helpful! Going halfway around the world by myself is intimidating, but after reading this book, cover-to-cover, I knew it was something that I should and COULD do. I leave in a week and I've booked everything (including a couple places I discovered in this guide) and I feel as prepared as I could be. This is an easy read, packed with practical information, and I love the QR codes to make planning easy. And I especially appreciated the "Pep Talk" at the end ... Alexa, you spoke directly to my soul and it was exactly what I needed to hear. Get the book. Plan the trip. What are you waiting for? DO IT!!!!

This book is really something! I read half of it just the first night!!... It's totally original, very well written and organized, and the information in there is priceless! I'm so glad I found it online by accident, I can feel that it's going to be my best friend on my trip. Can't wait to see the other guides!
