The Ben Lilly Legend (The J. Frank Dobie Paperback Library)

The book arrived in perfectly new condition. I enjoyed reading the book but it was a little boring at times. Ben lived a life that was captured fairly well in the book. I would have liked more details on his actual hunts but it seems allot of the information was second hand because most of his journals were lost. It still invokes visions of a bygone era.

lots of adventure, great stories,,if you are a hounds man, there is not much in the way of hounds/dogs, going on, Ifyou want a great hound hunting,old day adventures , try slash ranch hounds , any way this is a good book full of great stories, bigger type a short read, glad to add it to my collection

Ben Lilly knew the big predators - Mountain lion, and the Black and and Grizzly bears - like no other. This account of one of the best of the period in which he lived - the mid to late 1800's until the day he died - in 1936.This is an entertaining and educational account of a man who knew his wilderness animals like no other.

It's quite a story from a bygone era. He was a unique person. Times are different now days and there will never be another hunter like this guy. At least i hope not!

Very good Book. Did a good job of mixing the myth and the facts ! I enjoyed the book and the HISTORY that goes with it and the account of a truly Legendary Hunter and dog man .!!!

If you are interested in Ben Lilly you need this book. Well written! Really enjoyed it and my dad did too!

A very interesting book about a famous late-19th and early-20th century cougar and bear hunter, whom I had heard only 'bits-and-pieces' about from other hunting books, as being a near-legend, back in the early 1950's when I was in grammar-school. I enjoyed this book.
