Aquios® OEM RCFS236 Jumbo Water Softener/Filtration Replacement Cartridge

Basically cleans the excessive Iron in our well but also does well with the water. We have had it for several years and have had no complaints with the water quality.

As a carbon filter only it's fine but nothing else.I was determined to find a way to "soften" (reduce scale buildup) my water without an expensive softener and bags of salt. I bought the Aquios Jumbo Water Softener cartridge, a nice filter housing, and then paid my plumber to come install. I had high hopes, but +$400 later, I had the exact same water. This was 6 months ago.Last week I called a local water softener company and put in a real system. Cost $1500 + 1 bag of salt per month, but now I LOVE MY WATER.

I Purchased this filter/softener cartridge recently and ordered it direct from amazon because of the free shipping... BAD CHOICE. For the first time I had amazon send me the wrong product.Amazon sent me the FS-220Filter which is only 2.5"x20" instead of the FS-236Filter which is 4.25"x20". The other part that really upset me is that the product had a "FS-220Filter" sticker on it, which had just been covered up with an "FS-236Filter" sticker on top.I haven't had the chance to fully evaluate this product yet cause I haven't received the right one... You can buy the right one from Aquios on this amazon page, just click the other sellers button and order it from them instead.UPDATE: I ordered this directly from Aquios and received the correct one this time. So far seems to be working well. Fit was tight with my Kem flow filter housing. Upgrading to 4 stars because it was not Aquios fault that amazon shipped me the wrong filter.

I installed this in a regular 4"x20" transparent water filter housing, not the Aquios branded housing. See my review here: nuvoH2O Home Complete Salt-Free Water Softening System The softener portion took some time to see the results, but hard water deposits are much easier to clean off and the ring around our aquarium is disappearing.I thought it might improve the "sudsiness" of our soap/shampoo, but haven't seen a big difference there.We put in a new dark brass faucet in our kitchen a while before we installed this filter and have seen NO hard water spots on the new faucet base where water drips as you turn it off.The filter portion of this is great! We have an upstairs bathroom gets sun on it all day and is quite warm in the summer. We had problems with algae growing in the toilet and would need to clean it at least weekly to keep the algae from growing. This filter definitely removes the chlorine from our water because the algae starts growing within a couple days. So now we have to solve that problem.Overall I like the performance of the filter/softener and like having only one filter that does the job of both.

I installed this filter 1 year ago. Water is much cleaner and less smelly. I noticed that the shower doors have fewer residues on the glass.

The last filter I used lasted over a year. This one works great and the water is soft.

The filter does not fit the unit I bought and the company does not answer their phone so you can talk to them.

Installed this filter in Dec 2012. Our water hardness ~ 16. We understood before installation this filter doesn't make our water softer, but prevents scale build up. I think that is very important to understand before buying this product. Results - Water tests better, soaps do seem to work better, and hard scale build up is gone. The negative is you still get a lot of water spots, but they are much easier to remove. If you can't stand the sight of spots then do not buy this product.
