Informative
I had heard the White Rose story on the History Channel and it intrigued me. Who were these kids? I had no information. This book answered that.Look, it's written by their sister. So I couldn't expect an unbiased telling of all their flaws and failings. And it wasnt. But it was informative. And, it gave me a feel of just how brave these children were.An excellent book!

Good Nazi's?
Yes. There were "good Nazi's". Inspiring story and restored my belief that at least a few Germans had the courage to speak out. The life and death of Sophie is remarkable to say the least. All the descriptions of her death seem to indicate she was in something akin to a state of grace at her last moments. This book describes a level of courage worth seeking towards. A compelling read for sure.

interesting and provocative account of a terrible time.
this book is a much better account of the White Rose activity up to and including the German government in WW II than "Sophie Scholl and the White Rose". it was easier to read and i think the fact that the author had a more "intimate" relationship with the characters may have been the reason. i especially liked the fact that copies of the inclusion of the Leaflets fascinating and interesting and the same goes for the inclusion of court documents, personal communication between others and Sophie to be much more touching, interesting and informative. i really liked the fact that i read this book second after the "Sophie Scholl and the White Rose" a good but coincidental thing. if i had only one of these books to read, i would recommend this one. i also liked the personal account and glimpses of the characters and their internal family life. (the fact that i read them both was a serendipitous result of mistyping).

Amazing account, but there are some errors.
I love this book. I love the incredible story it recounts about a group of brave university students. I would recommend this to every person who wishes to know anything about history. With the disclaimer that there are a significant amount of grammatical errors. I simply attribute that to this being a translation but I really wish that it was more refined.

Short, important read
What an important book! Iโve just finished so its still settling in but if youโre interested in politics, history, psychology, the human spirit, oppression and resistance, purpose and sacrifice, etc. etc. you will gain something from reading this book. Some of the language is unusual, maybe because of the translation? Despite that, I think this would be a good book for high school students to read. It's not too long, the story is of course a sad one but also enthralling and eye opening.Hoping to share my copy over and over again.

Peace & justice student activists during Nazi Regime
Thank you to this author, and those who went through hell during Nazi occupation.Lost family members and many friends, who's only "fault" and curse, being born Jewish and others' who were scapegoats by Nazis. The White Rose was a group formed by loving college students to tell the truth. There is still White Rose in the Catholic system, to spread PEACE & justice throughout the world. My mother was an escapee from Nazi tyranny in 1937. She had countless family members murdered after she escaped. I think of her separation from those she loved. The White Rose tried then, and the philosophy continues to this day.

It is not the most polished memoir ever written. It doesn't matter at all because Sophie and Hans Scholl are towering figures over our current landscape of mediocrity and cowardice. They dared to oppose a murdering regime and in the process they teached us a terrible lesson: we must resist "government by an irresponsible clique that has yielded to base instinct" and not wait for others to start resisting.Their brave writings deserve prompt distribution, as they intended back then.

A must read for help in understanding authoritarian regimes
A personal account from the sister of two people executed by the Nazis. They were both in their early 20's and were executed for treason because they left leaflet protesting the Hitler regime. A number of their fellow students and professors were executed as well. As I read the book there was no missing the parallels to the Trump presidency. Very frightening. A book everyone should read.

Die Weisse Rose
This is probably about the sixth book I've read on The White Rose, and although quite short in pages, it's interesting and brings forward a new perspective which is not found elsewhere. Like most people who have an interest in The White Rose and other courageous resistance groups of their time, it's now near impossible to find first hand accounts of their activities. As such I have to say I'm sceptical about books which are written many decades after a group was `irradiated/disbanded', and this I'm sorry to say falls in that category. As interesting as it was to read, I found myself cross referencing it with what I read from other material written many decades previous. With this said I'd agree that the contents of this book are an interesting addition to whatever else you might have read elsewhere. Just don't expect it to go into depth where other books have failed simply because of who wrote it.If you are in any way interested in The White Rose then to be honest any review is obsolete because you'll instinctively buy anything relating to it. This is what brought me to buy the book and will no doubt do the same for any future book published relating to them. As for the quality, I'm of the opinion the longer they take to publish such material the poorer and more speculative it becomes.

A great story
Not brilliantly written but the story it tells is so moving and dramatic that you easily get caught up in it.
