All the coffeemaker you need with no superfluous features - Keep It Simple!
What do you really need in a coffee maker? Good coffee, of course, as well as reliability, ease of use, and easy cleaning. Few things annoy me more than those high-tech coffee makers that have whiz-bang features that are supposed to make your life better but ultimately just cause confusion and extra costs (for the coffeemaker itself, charcoal filters, built-in bean grinders, etc.). I don't even really need the timer; I just stagger into the kitchen in the morning and push the "On" button. Easy!Pause-and-pour features on coffeemakers give me a small amount of anxiety because if you don't line up your carafe perfectly you could get a huge mess of hot water and coffee grounds. This hasn't happened to me with this model after my first week of use, but if it happens later I'll add it to the review.A feature I really like about this model is that the water delivery arm swings out over the basket to simulate a manual pour-over like you might get at a good coffee shop. The result is a great cup of coffee with little effort and, of course, at a fraction of the cost of going out. Most of all, I like the simplicity of this model. Life is complicated enough...simplify it and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Coffee is as good as any other drip coffee maker I've ever had
Delivered Sep 9, 2016Your package was delivered.Track packageHamilton Beach 12-Cup Coffee Maker, Digital (49465)Sold by: Amazon.com LLC$15.00Condition: NewI read Milkweed's review and got this (for $15). It uses #4 Cone filters (optional mesh filter). Makes 10 cups in 10 minutes. Coffee is as good as any other drip coffee maker I've ever had. I don't know why it's suddenly so expensive, but I would pay up to $25 for this one. You open the hinged top lid and rotate the water dripper out of the way to get the basket and put in the filter and coffee. Then when you close the lid, it is cleverly designed to push the dripper back into position (2 plastic tabs on the underside of the lid accomplish this). The carafe does not drip when you pour a cup of coffee - even if you pour fast. The basket also does not drip onto to the heating surface when you pull the carafe out. Very good machine -- amazing at $15.

Just what I was looking for.
This coffee maker is simple, makes great hot coffee, and is inexpensive. Some reviews ding it for being somewhat loud at the end of the brewing cycle. This is simply because the water heating element gets hot enough to rapidly boil off the water remaining in the heating tube. It's also why the coffee comes out hotter that other coffee makers I've used. Personally, the loudness at the end of the cycle doesn't bother me at all and is a small price to pay (very small, in my opinion) in exchange for good hot coffee. I highly recommend this maker. Now, I haven't had it long so I can't give an opinion of it's durability. Hopefully, I'll be as satisfied with it in a few years as I am now.

Good product. A bit more expensive than anticipated.
It was more expensive than consumer reports said it would be. I think i could have gotten it 30% less at Walmart.

cone filter
Wanted a new coffee maker, most make flat basket filters, this line still uses cone filters which I think saves you a little on coffee and tastes better (all about the drainage and flow). Grab the Medelco#4 filter for this, would be nice if one came included. I also wanted the auto shutoff, in case you forget don't want it baking dry. Clock is not led so can't see it at night, but then again I have too many clocks in the kitchen already. Still, room for improvement if HB is listening. Also, not a big deal but worth at least one star, would it kill you to make a slightly longer power cord? We can still coil it up underneath, just would really like a little flexibility moving it around especially when filling.

Reaches proper water temp
This was rated highly on C. REPORTS. I decided to try it and it does make a nice pot of coffee. I also like the cone filters better so that is good. Water temp reaches the proper setting (according to CR) so that's good too. My only issue is the pot doesn't remove it go back in as smoothly as I would like. It catches so I need to shove harder & it can slosh around a bit. Not bad enough to be a deal breaker, IMO.

Hamilton Beach Digital Coffeemaker
This is a replacement for my favorite old coffeemaker that gave out after many years of service.I was surprised to see there's been few changes made since 1997, and the ones I noticed don'tseem like improvements. There's some odd piece that pulls over the top of the coffee cone thatseems to do nothing and actually prevents that "click" sound that told me the cone was firmly inplace; the setting for mild to strong is missing, and the on/off switch has been simplified. It stillmakes good coffee, though, has that one very important feature of turning itself off in 2 hours, andI'm hopeful it will serve as well as its predecessor.BTW: Could not find in the local stores, but it was worth waiting for.

Another Winner from CR!
I purchased this coffee maker because of it's high rating and recommendation by Consumer Reports, and I have to agree! Important features: automatic timed shut off if you accidentally forget and leave it on. Simple interface with 2 buttons, but can program it to brew your coffee at any specific time of the day. The brewing capability with the cone basket/filters means I only need 3 heaping tablespoons of coffee grounds to brew 10 cups. The final feature is a spring loaded drip stop, which allows you to pull out the coffee pot while it is brewing, pour yourself a cup (within 20 seconds), and replace it without coffee pouring out all over the base.

It quickly makes a great coffee!
The coffee tastes great, it's ready in a couple of minutes (even if you make 10 cups), and it stays very warm up to two hours if you don't turn the machine off.

Returned due to Construction Issue
I had to return this item straight away as it arrived damaged with the plastic having chipped off the top of the lid which overhangs the unit's body. So I can't comment on its actual functioning. But the build quality seemed pretty cheap, especially for the plastic to have chipped away even though the entire packaging was intact. So this might be a good budget coffee maker - but I can't comment meaningfully on that.
