Great picture, makes backing up much easier.
Finally, a HD monitor to go with the HD license plate camera. As a total system, this can't be beat. The monitor gives a great picture and mounts firm on my dashboard. That's not an easy task as my pickup truck's dashboard seems like it has a layer of teflon on it.I've gone through several monitors and even phone holders that go flying when I hit a pothole. Finally, with the Xroose monitor and the phone holder by another manufacturer, I have devices on my dashboard that stay on no matter the conditions. I didn't think that having a HD license plate camera and HD monitor would make a big difference since the screen is still on the small side when you compare it to a television but it's just the right size to fit between my dashboard and windshield and gives an image worth the price.I have a 200 foot driveway that goes uphill when leaving my house. The change in elevation is about 75 feet so some drivers find it challenging. I'm unable to turn around at the bottom of my driveway so having this HD system works great for backing up my driveway when used in conjunction with my mirrors.I also prefer to back into parking spaces and this system allows me to get within a few inches of the vehicle parked behind me. That used to be my biggest difficulty but now it's simple, even with my extended cab truck. The camera captures plenty of scenery even though I aim it low. I do this in order to see the top of my ball hitch on my truck as I approach my utility trailer coupler. At most, it takes 3 tries to get the ball hitch directly under the coupler, 2 if I've had my morning coffee. As an extra aid, I put a piece of red duct tape on the coupler and the HD camera system clearly shows when I need to stop.I still think that mirrors are valuable tools when driving backward (or forward) but I think this is an excellent addition to my truck or any vehicle, day or night.I also prefer that the system is hard-wired as the wireless systems that I had in the past were not consistent. The image on the wireless model would go grainy and often the image would completely disappear. If you need assistance "hiding" the wire (provided) under your vehicle, it's worth the cost to get a professional but I found following the instructions were easy and securing the wire to the underside of my truck was a simple job. The toughest part feeding the wire between the camera and monitor was fishing the wire through the firewall. I must admit that I had to ask for help from my stepson but only for that portion of the wiring. So, if you prefer backing into parking spaces or have a trailer that you need to hook up to your vehicle or need to see small obstacles (including children), this HD license plate camera and monitor is well worth the money.Even with an electrical background, I still struggled installing my previous wireless systems (the directions were often confusing and then it wouldn't work well) so I hard-wired the wireless systems to get a better picture by bypassing the transmitter and receiver. This helped but now that Xroose has come out with a system that's hard-wired and HD at both the license plate camera and monitor, I plan to use this system as long as I can. I can't stop complimenting the Xroose system because of the battles that I had with my previous backup systems. Perhaps I'll look into side-view cameras to eliminate the blind spot but I never had a problem with that, especially when I added the smaller blindspot mirrors onto the two side mirrors. I didn't expect to write my rearview philosophy in my review of the Xroose system but if you haven't installed a rearview system before, this is the one to get. I can't say enough good things about it. Obviously, I highly recommend it. Remember, you pay for what you get.

Update: Ask the seller for any challenges you may have...
This camera is useless for anything but putting on your auto license plate to back up to the RV's tow bar. If you wanted to use it to put on the back of the actual RV itself, where you really need a camera, forget it. They don't give you enough cord to do that. There is no extension cord to extend the length either! The connections to the actual camera and to the video screen have little, microscopic connectors that nothing else will work with it, as far as extending the cords for your auto to the back of the RV. Don't waste your money, for this company doesn't bother to make the extended cords first before putting this system on the market for the use of backing up an RV!Update: 10-13-22The company contacted us after our writing the review about how the camera isn't for camper trailers and asked us how much cord we needed, (after I had read from another there were no extra cords). We measured the distance from the back of our trailer to the dash board of our car and they sent exactly what we needed! Now we have a back up camera for our trailer, making it not only easier to back it up, but also to see who is behind us while traveling, which is important because when changing lanes we can't always see behind our trailer. It is not only helpful backing up but also while driving. The only challenge we have is the license plate on our trailer is at a back corner, not in the center, so we will have to drill holes or figure out where else to move the camera so we have a central placement.I've updated my review from one star to five stars now, because this company has a great customer service and the camera works very well.

Nice addition
Works way better than the Bluetooth one I replaced. 6 months and seems like a good purchase.

Ease of install ... and works!
First off, my disclaimer: I purchased this dash cam with the intention of installing it on my motorcycle as a full-time rear view monitor. After installation I have no reason to believe that using it on a car or truck would be anything but excellent. This is a “wired” system, meaning the hardest part is running the supplied video cable from rear camera to forward monitor. It’s all “plug ‘n play.” Simple. Power to the system is supplied one of two ways; cigarette style plug in (with push-button switch) or by direct wiring. I chose the latter first as a test and it was flawless. Then I decided to “hard-wire” it to a switch (see pictures) and the unit performed equally well. Most, I’m sure, will prefer the simpler 12-volt plug in switch. It’s a no-brainer.Quality-wise, the picture is clear and sharp. By comparison, my car’s stock dash cam is grainy and suffers from an extreme “fish-eye” distortion from too wide a field of view. Xroose made a good choice in making the viewing angle 149 degrees. You also have four quality control options; Brightness, Contrast, Tint and Saturation, as well the option to turn off or on the car line grid or adjusting its length and width. All useful features.Build quality: Some reviews have knocked this unit (the monitor) as being too light weight, equating this as "cheap." I don't find that the case at all, in fact, I prefer the lighter weight. It's less apt to keel over as a GPS or smartphone might. The monitor was rock-solid in my self-made bracket as well as when I tried it on my car's windshield using the supplied suction mount. All in all, a good system with quality features and all the hardware and wire included for your automobile. And, at an attractive price. Five stars.
