Simply the best
Let's face it, you're unlikely to find a better pencil anywhere. They don't even break when you drop them (indoors). They're a pleasure to draw with and while they're priced at more than a student might want to pay, they are well worth the price when you're ready to upgrade. With a good range of hardness available, they are versatile tools for both artists and architects. The softer grades blend well. I also love the fact that I can buy individual pencils in my most used grades, though a set works out better value if you're upgrading from another brand.

I've found it. The best pencil I have ever used for everyday writing. I'd heard it from others and they were so right. It is very understated and so well engineered. I have mostly been a Staedtler user, but this Faber Castell exceeds even that great mark. All hail the 9000!

Great name, great quality. Not cheap, but you have to pay for quality
The name saydls it all really. Quality pencils and that does sometimes make a difference depending what you're working on.

Smooth writer
Faber Castell is a name that has been around for years and associated with professionals (artists / draughtsmen / musicians etc) who require a bit more than a basic writing tool. This pencil looks smart in its traditional dark green outer coat and is a smoother operator than an HB. Personally I find it easier to see on the page but evidently not as dark as a 2B or higher grade.I wanted this pencil for book annotations and getting hold of a "B" seemed for some reason more difficult than it used to be. Using it makes you feel like a pro !!

Great for watercolour sketching
Brilliant pencil for sketching, especially prior to painting in watercolour as lines are faint enough to easily colour. Bought one before but I lost it so just had to get another.
