Cat Hairball Relief Chewable Tablets, Relief for Cats, 60 Count

I am amazed, because my cat will actually eat these willingly. I stumbled upon these by accident when I was in the store looking for another possible remedy for my cat's hairball issue. I have four cats, and three of them would be more than happy to take the standard Petromalt, but the cat with the longest hair who also grooms all of the other cats won't touch the stuff. I tried the other flavors, putting it on a spoon, on my finger, on his paw, in his food, in chicken, in tuna, you name it. I brush the cats at least twice a day, but I still ended up having to take him to the vet twice for hairball issues, which resulted in surgery the second time. Anyway, I explained my dilemma to the guy in the store, and he said to try these pills. I was doubtful, because the pills are huge, and they don't have any particular odor that would seem to attract a kitty. I took one out, broke it into quarters, and my problem child ate it and seemed to want more. Unbelievable. This dry, chalky, seemingly tasteless hairball remedy is the new "kitty crack." I showed my vet, just to make sure it was okay to give my cats this on a regular basis, and he said it's fine. End of problem. I give them each one at breakfast and at dinner, and while they all eat the pill quarters before any of their food, my big hairy problem child follows me to the cupboard and waits expectantly for his. I don't get it, but it works and he likes it. It has been many months now since there have been hairball issues in this household, and my only wish would be that they place this item on Subscribe and Save. 9/23/12 UPDATE: It has been over a year since I started feeding these to my four cats, plus, as I said in my previous review, my mom and my brother are also giving them to their cats. For anyone who is interested, none of the cats have had any hairball incidents since we started using these. I break each pill into quarters and put them on top of their food, morning and evening. If I realize I don't have enough pills and have to run upstairs for a new bottle, they follow me, because they know they are missing the treat from their food. It's really pretty funny. Also, I wanted to comment about some reviews I read that the pills changed, and that different lots were thicker and harder to break up. I have noticed that I occasionally get a pill that is thicker, but I never gave it much thought because it hasn't been a problem. For me, there may be two or three tougher ones in a bottle--it has never been all of them, so it doesn't seem like they changed the formula or anything like that. If I get a tough one, I generally can still break it, but if not, I just use a knife. That is a rare event, and the cats eat them, either way. I would love for these to go on Subscribe and Save, but even if they never do, I will buy them, because I have not found anything even close to these as far as being completely effective in the elimination of hairballs, as well as being so easy to use, because the kitties regard them as a treat.

I’ve tried so many hairball remedies for my medium haired cat and these worked magic! Within a couple of weeks, she was having almost no hairballs when before she’d have multiple a week. Her coughing and hacking had also subsided. I was so surprised that she ate them with no problem. She would actually go crazy whenever I opened the bottle! Unfortunately, I think she has an allergy to an ingredient in them so I can no longer give them to her :( but if your cat isn’t allergic, they work wonders!!!

Get ready for a lengthy review but I promise it is worth it! So I am writing this review after using this product for a few months now, I wanted to wait for a certain period of time to pass to see if there were any results after using this product and I can assure you that there was! So for context: I own two beautiful cats that I have rescued that have two very different personalities, one sheds like there is NO tomorrow and the other one does not. Of course being they are both cats they love to clean themselves, quite literally all the time which resulted in hairballs. The one who does not shed near as much has a few health issues involving his stomach and nasal cavities, both of my cats have extremely sensitive stomachs so I wanted to find a product that could work for both of them equally without causing issues! The picture above is three different products I use including the one that I’m currently writing the review on. This product has done wonders for me and my fur babies! This product alongside the other ones I have bought reduced the amount of hairballs I was experiencing, keep in mind that I was experiencing around 2-3 hairballs every other day but definitely 1 hairball every day. As I’m sure many of you know, coming home after a long day and having to clean hairballs out of carpet is not an easy task to do. After a few months of using this as well as trying the other two products featured in the picture I have seen a significant improvement from both of my cats! So here is my routine and what works for me: in the morning I use a pill crusher to crush the pill and put it into each of their food bowls, I mix the pill fragments in with their food. Then in the evening time, I squeeze a few drops of the liquid product into their food bowls. Neither one of them have had issues with eating their food since I’ve started all of this, in fact I’ve noticed they seem more excited to eat! One of my cats LOVES treats while the other does not, so sometimes I will drop the treat product into the pickier one’s bowl so that he will eat it while I feed the other one the treat product at random since he will eat it on the spot. Of course I highly recommend consulting with your veterinarian if you have one for more information in regards to your pet’s health and or condition!

This review is for a bottle I purchased Oct 2014. I mention this as I noticed there are many reviews about old/new formulas and I have no idea which version we might've had. That being said, at first I felt these things were a waste of money. My cat seemed to have some interest in them but the crushed tab dust would go up his nose when he tried to eat & he def didn't like that, stopped showing interest by 3rd try. I then tried to wet them & make a little sauce treat out of them but he didn't like that at all, wouldn't even taste. They sat in some cubbard until I got my rescue cat late 2015...I tried to give them to her, same as before, dry & wet, no joy. They sat in the cubbard some more, a long time apparently, until I ran out of something else recently (Feb 2017), saw this bottle & wondered if cat would eat mixed in food as I was doing with the other stuff. I tried to brake up with hands, knife, weights but they were hard as rocks after a few yrs in the cabinet. I chucked them in the blender & turned it all into fine powder then put back in container, poured a little on cat's wet, added water, mixed altogether & repeated until I ran out. My rescue won't eat wet so doesn't help her but my other cat only eats wet now & he seems to like it this way for sure. I wondered if he would notice when I ran out, he def did...I could tell he missed whatever taste it was adding right away, then a week or so later he had some tummy troubles, the next week, tons o' hairballs. Seeing how much it was helping & how much he enjoyed, I put it on as a subscription. Fingers crossed it is the same version when the bottle comes in - will update if not! UPDATE!!! He won't eat :( Def new formula, checked label on old bottle vs. new & as others have said, brewers yeast is missing. Back to the bleepin drawing board...

so....this was totally thoughtless on my part, but i will admit the error of my ways. we, in the course of time, have inherited 3 cats, and some time ago, i actually went to the shelter, and got a pre-owned, long haired cat; brining the total to 4.... and the only one i have gotten on purpose. madelyn is kind of plump, kind of lazy, but very sweet. somehow, she managed to enslave 3 other cats, and they groom her long luxurious fur and then gack it up all over the house. and me a gagger, but worse than my inability to clean it up and wait for hubby to do it, is that i never stopped to think that this was even more distressing to the gagging cat than to myself. i know; shame on me. one cat in particular, makes the most retched noises and her entire body is involved in the process of eliminating madelyn's fur. i read the reviews on so many products and thought i would order just one bottle of this. in less than two weeks, i feel there is vast improvement in the one cat's digestive issues, and i have not found hairballs. obviously, this will not eliminate the ingestion of hair, but appears to alleviate the elimination of it so maybe it is coming out the other end in the cat box. oh joy. it was not unusual for this cat to eliminate hairballs more than once in a day in the most vocal of ways. what's more - they all love them. one cat is very small and did not touch hers, while the rest ate theirs first. i found this to be a size issue and although the tablet is both big and thick, they are easily broken into pieces. now that i do that, each one wolfs the digestive aid down before eating their food. will be ordering more on a regular basis.

*** UPDATE April 2016 *** Downgraded from 5 stars to 1 - would be 0 if I could. This new formula doesn't do the same job as the old formula. I was using a 2-to-1 ratio, meaning 2 of the new tablets when I used to use 1, but that isn't enough. I'm trying 2.5-to-1 PLUS 1/2 tsp Hairball Relief oil from Pet Naturals. One poor kitty developed pretty severe constipation as I was switching him over to the new formula (probiotics and extra oil helped). I used to crush the pills and dissolve them in water. They loved the "drink" it made and drank an extra 2-3oz water with each meal. Critical for kitties with renal issues. They also did something similar to their urinary tract support formula. I bought out all the old formula of that I could find. Now I have to do that with this stuff. I have no idea how I'm going to get all the water in them they need now. It's very dry here in California and our kitties have renal issues. This stuff was a godsend that helped both their kidneys and their coats. This is terrible. *** UPDATE April 2015 *** First, the company must be reading the reviews. The pills are still the same size but are now soft enough to break them in half with your hand. Even better, though, having to use the herb crusher for these pills resulted in an amazing benefit for the kitties. We have 2 cats with UT and renal issues, plus it's just been so dry here in CA, so I add water to their canned food. They won't drink it unless I flavor the water. I was using tuna, but that wasn't ideal because of the salt. Mixing the powdered pills with the water results in a "drink" they LOVE!! Our vet has been very impressed, and no more of the dry hacking and dry, itchy, skin! This may have saved our oldest kitty. I couldn't be more thankful. *** Original review *** Bought the first bottle to try and our cats loved them. I bought 2 more and found out they changed the formula. They're much thicker and harder than they were before. Our cats couldn't eat them anymore! And these are very big cats - 15lb and 18lb kitties. They're too big for my pill splitter, so I had to get an herb grinder to first crush them before the cats could eat them. It takes a lot of time and strength. The old pills could be easily broken up with your fingers if needed. Bring back the original formula!

My cat really likes these, but I don’t think they are very effective. I break the tablets into 4 pieces and she will eat them right away but she is still having hairballs every other day or so. It’s better than nothing and if you have a finicky cat, try it.

I bought this Vet’s Best Hairball Relief Digestive Aid a few months ago after one of my cats started coughing and hacking frequently due to hairballs. So i have a 7 old female cat that has had a hairball problem ever since i got her from the pound 6 yrs ago. I have tried a few remedies but she still gets them. The last stuff i had her on was working but again, she was still throwing them up but fewer this time. I found this paste worked better than most but was too expensive. So I looked on here and I came across this remedy. I read the reviews, all positive, so i decided to buy it. So you get 60 pills, 2 per day. So i will give her 2 per day and see if these work better than the last stuff I was using. When i first gave her one i had to cut it in 4 quarters. These pills are huge for a cat. If you have a tiger that has a hairball problem, then sure, but for a regular size cat???? So she ate 3 of the 4 quarters and then that was it, she wouldn't eat them any longer. So i decided to pour some water in a small container and then i would put the pill in the water to dissolve. Then I would pour the solution over her cat food. I have to give her wet cat food since she doesn't like to drink water at all. But she eats it all, so it works this way. Regards to these pills stopping her from throwing up hairballs, I will do an update later on. I guess i wanted other consumers to know about soaking it in water to help dissolve the huge size pill to make is easier for their cats to consume. I gave 4 stars and if she doesnt throw up for another month or so.. then i will give it 5 stars.. UPDATE: This stuff really works. Having a cat that use to spew her food all over the place once a week is now only doing it like once every few months. So i tried everything but nothing really worked till i came across this magic pill. i usually just break up a pill into quarters and then throughout the day i will give it to her as treat. i do soak it for about a min under the tap since it is a bit chalky. i fed it to her once without doing so and she threw it up. Not the food.. just the pill. So this stuff works. Believe me. She was throwing up at least once a week and i feed her wet cat food and she would run while she was throwing up.. GGGGross. Not anymore. So after 7 months or more and 5 bottles. I just give her one pill a day now. IT WORKS and she loves the chicken flavor. thanks

I have been using this for a few weeks now and has to stock up as this is an essential supplement I give to my 9 months old kitten everyday. It helps with hairball and digestion and it’s made of natural ingredients so far I have seen really good results and my kitten loves the taste of it. It is almost like a treat for him everyday that’s how good it tastes. The value is so great 180 tablets for $20+!

Cat loves the taste of these although was unsure at first. Seems to work to help reduce how often he gets hairballs. Just wish they came in a bigger quantity.
