Good Buy With a Little Work
Just installed this Kenwood receiver in my boat with no problem. The accessory wires were clearly marked and others are straightforward. Only problem was that mine didn't come with a manual. That's probably why I got a good price, since maybe it was a floor model or return. Once I searched and downloaded manual, I felt confident with the wiring hook up. When I installed, it needed an antenna - so buy an antenna on the front end if your existing receiver has a built in antenna. It sounds great and I fit well into my existing boat dash, so I'm pleased. Bluetooth was easy to sync. So if you see a lower price, expect you may need to do a little extra work to make it pay off.As a follow up, the "Protecting - Send Service" message came on the first time I left the boat cover off for a couple days. The boat is on the lift and has a roof over it. Now, I can't make it work and a year has passed - so agree with folks who say that it is not marine quality.

How to switch between phones?
As others have said, the display is very difficult to see in sunlight but it's not the end of the world. It looks really cool at night. The thing I can't figure out is how to switch between my phone and my passengers phones. I go through the menus and find everyone's paired phones in the list but once one is connected, it doesn't seem to want to switch to a different phone. I have to have figure out whos phone is currently connected and have them turn off Bluetooth. That's a little irritating when I can't get my wife to give up control of the stereo. :) If you know how to switch between phones let me know....

Great way to get music out on the lake
Bought for my father-in-law to put into his boat. Great way to get music out on the lake, many options to play music as well. You can listen to radio stations, use bluetooth with Pandora or whatever app, put music onto a usb stick and plug that in, or you can use the aux cable and play songs right from your phone or tablet. Bluetooth is tricky to get working, other then that this is a great buy.

***BUYER BEWARE*** Please read this full review before buying KENWOOD marine radios
****Update on my Kenwood KMR-D362BT Marine CD Receiver****After giving this radio a 5 star review after installation, and using the boat approx. 12 times this boating season it has has died due to corrosion????? in the first 8 months of use. I have to qualify that I live in Florida on the Ocean: HOWEVER the boat only goes on the river and is stored in my garage when not in use. So I am confused on how this radio Corroded to the point of internal failure so fast, The radio looks as new as it did when I removed from box, it is installed in the factory location under the Helm and is very protected from the elements while on the water. So the question is how did this radio Corrode so fast being a Marine Radio and designed for this environmental??? I purchased this radio by reading reviews just like this one and wanted to warn everyone looking at KENWOOD as a name of a company that stands behind its Marine product. I want to say this loud and clear KENWOOD DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THERE MARINE RADIO DUE TO CORROSION IN THE FIRST YEAR OF WARRANTY!!! how can a marine radio not withstand corrosion for at least the first year of its life?? (I have attached pictures the service center took showing corrosion. I don't see it, and are these boards coated to prevent this??)Lets talk about my out of pocket for this: First KENWOOD had me send to United Radio in Syracuse NY $15.78 in shipping. Not covered under warranty so now I have to pay to get my failed product back $15.35 back from United Radio.<Cost of radio $98 plus $31 in meaningless shipping charges, the end result a product that can not be used. WOW what a mistake I made buying a KENWOOD Product>**Now the Good news **In my original post I mentioned I purchased the extend warranty from asurion for $7.00. This was my second great decision I made on this transaction, after my denial from KENWOOD on the warranty replacement I thought I would call Amazon to see if they could help out with this, they called asurion warranty with me on the line to see if they would pick up were KENWOOD would not. (to qualify the extended warranty picks up after the manufacture stops in this case the first year. asurion talked me through the process that I went through with KENWOOD and made the decision that they would give me a full refund of the radio once I get it back from United Radio and send it into asurion. ( I expressed my out of pocket expence for the shipping charges to United Radio and wanted to know if I have to pay the shipping to asurion.) They said they would send me a prepaid shipping label and send to them for free. WOW!!! now finally customer service**It gets better** My first great decision on this transaction was buying from Amazon!!! The operator from Amazon was on the line the whole time wile talking to asurion, hearing my disappointment on the shipping charges I had to pay too and from United Radio, the Amazon operator asked me how much again I was out for shipping, she made the decision to give me a full cash credit for all the shipping charges I was out of pocket. (are you kidding me WOW!!!! now that was going way out for customer service.)So buyer beware of KENWOOD Marine product, but most of all buy from Amazon and buy the Asurion warranty****Original review*****Just installed this radio in my boat and paired them with infinity speakers, wow was I impressed, the install was very easy the screen looks great, my iPhone paired with the Bluetooth seamless, the microphone can be heard any ware on my 17ft boat (was not expecting that) when using the USB I played my Amazon prime music the sound was very rich and smooth. I just sat In my boat for 2 hours playing with the unit. I did purchase the 2 year warranty for $7.00 since I'm on salt water in Florida and have longer seasons to use my boat.

Great for the price.
I bought this after a base model kenwood with Bluetooth ate a few gallons of water in my jeep. This was the cheapest marine kenwood I could find, I selected it originally so I wouldn't have to swap the wiring harness. I was pleased to find that it sounded a lot better then the unit it replaced. The colour changing display is kind of nice, but it does make it impossible to read the display in direct sunlight. This doesn't really bother me though as the interface is the same as the 3 other kenwoods in my other vehicles, so I rarely look at the display. It is something to keep in mind though.I haven't had the chance to test how waterproof the unit is, as I now do my best to keep water from pooling in my cover, but with an epoxy coated board and far fewer vents I'd expect it to do a lot better. For the money, it can't be beat.

Well pleased! Lots of features for a good price.
I had an older Alpine unit that performed well but it used the 15 pin connector instead of the new connector for the iPod 5th gen which is what i have. I was looking to upgrade to something more modern. This had the features that were important to me: blue tooth, marine grade, USB, and 3 sets of pre amp outputs. I installed it in my boat over the weekend and it was pretty straight forward. This unit powers 4 speakers and I have two four channel amps powering another 8 speakers plus the dedicated pre amp outputs for the subwoofer. Sounds awesome! I love being able to connect to my iPod with no wires. I have not tried the call function yet.
