Good product. Heavy duty and nonstick

This product is phenomenal for Dosas!! Yes!, I know it's only a pan but I have to tell you that this is the best one that we have used. I have been on a quest to make the perfect masala dosa recently and I bought the lodge (10-11inch) cast iron pan followed by another cast iron which was 14 inch and they are good but every once in a while the dosa will get stuck and you need to spend time seasoning them. What I like about this pan 1. Size - Great size for great dosas ;). 13 inch which perfect 2. Thickness - The pan is thicker than most other non-stick pans I have seen and maintains heat well 3. Non stick coating - Excellent. The dosas literally float off the pan! Slight exaggeration but you'll see! ;) Hope this helped. Don't thick twice. I have seen some reviews about the bottom not being flat which was a problem for some. We use gas and this was not an issue for us.

This tawa works great on my flat ceramic stove. It sits nice and stable, and it is the perfect size for dosas and roti of all varieties. The handle makes it easy to use and it feels nice and heavy but not too heavy. My only issue is the nonstick coating. It’s a little rough in places and food will stick there if I don’t oil the pan first. It also takes awhile to heat completely, but once it does, all food cooks evenly and does slide off easily as long as the pan is oiled ahead of time. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best I’ve used so far.

I had this on my wishlist for some time and am very happy I got it. I was using an electric griddle to make dosas which works fine but can be a little difficult to clean. This tava is much easier to use and clean up. The dosas turn out great. I have not yet used it fr anything else, but I am sure it will work fine for other purposes as well.

I'm giving this a 5 star because of how we use it. I cook either the store bought 12" extra large flour tortillas to the 6" inch size tortillas and works really well. This pan cooks them evenly and fast. I do have a gas range. I can understand why some of the reviews haven't liked the pan do to it not sitting flat. I don't have that problem on the gas range so I have to assume the bad reviews are do to electric flat top type ranges. It also works great when I make fresh tortillas as well. We have cooked French toast to pancakes and all have come out perfect. In my opinion this works better than the cast iron because of the non-stick feature. And like I said at the top, it's nice to have a pan that can do the king size flour tortillas. Also it will cook (3) of the 6" flour tortillas on one time too.

Very disappointed with the quality. I’ve had this tava for only about two months and have barely used it. Despite using non-abrasive utensils and hand-washing, the nonstick coating has already started pitting, flaking, and peeling off, exposing the metal underneath. Not what I expected from Hawkins. I would not recommend this product.

Haven't had it long but we've used it 3x to make south Indian dosas. The base radiates heat excellently especially when used on a high btu gas burner. Nonstick coating is excellent. Though made of plastic, the handle seems sturdy enough and is offset enough not to melt/burn (a common problem among griddles of this type.). Would have like to see the handle welded to the griddle but it's bolted/riveted on instead. We'll see how it holds up over time. Buyer should note that the griddle is not entirely flat; it has a very slight concave curve but we don't find it to be an issue for our purposes.

My old flat pan (Comal) used for warming up tortillas and making some other things finally got replaced by this new one. I looked long and hard and finally settled on this one. I'm glad I did some looking at the reviews before buying another. There are so many options, and even some that pose using the term 'Comal'. But they are not. This product was not cheap aluminum piece of metal coated with Teflon. It is very solid and distributes heat really well. I use it now all the time and love that I don’t see how it can possibly warp…ever. Looking forward to many years of usage. Excellent.

I would recommend this pan for anyone interested in making authentic homemade Mexican tortillas and Indian flatbreads, such as roti, chapati, or dosas. Not only can you save a lot of money by making these delicious ethnic breads at home, but the ones you make taste much better and are free of chemical additives. I gave this pan a 5 star rating as the pan is very authentic compared to the pans used in Mexico called comals and in India called a dosa/tava griddle. If you are using the pan to make quesadillas then you can cook 2 quesadillas at the same time to speed up the process. This pan is a very welcome addition to my kitchen and way of eating. The pan is easy to clean and safe to use with its handle that doesn't heat up. When you have guests over and you serve these authentic ethnic flatbreads to them there's a lot of wow factor involved. You may even introduce a new cooking trend to your family and friends!

Best, dosa tawa I have ever used. Comfortable size. Comfortable weight. Easy to use crispiest are coming out. Easy to clean also
