Arcadia Garden Products 1592 Solstice Series Coconut Hanging Basket 16-Inch

I used these for 2 different baskets this summer, one full of petunias, snapdragons and sweet potato vine, and one for a huge zonal geranium and both have thrived in these. I forgot that I usually line the coconut fiber with plastic before soil but they haven't been overly dry. Neither are hanging, 1 is sitting in a space I am reserving for a future perennial, and the other I drilled out and swapped to replace a 10" that bolted to a metal stake, that holds the huge geraniums and is quite stunning. Very happy with the size, quality and durability of these, a good vale for the money and versatile at that!

I had purchased 4 of these 16” hanging baskets and all seemed well until one of them decided to break. After cleaning up all of the planted flowers in the basket, it was discovered that the actual links in the hanging chain aren’t welded or closed all the way which causes them to open up and drop the entire basket. I tried to call the manufacturer (Arcadia) and were told they were not interested or able to do “anything” to help. While explaining that this appears to be a manufacturer defect, I was completely dismissed and eventually hung up on. After purchasing a second basket, repotting all the plants and hanging it, the exact same thing happened. So now I have 2 defective baskets I plan on returning. Trying to remain positive I did a bit of research and found another company (h00k+lattice), that sell replacement chain links and confirmed their “links” are completely shut (unlike Arcadia’s links that will or eventually will open up and break). The disappointing part of all this (aside from losing an entire basket of growing and blooming flowers), is the price points. Arcadia’s baskets with defective chain links is around $32. The aforementioned company’s (H+L) 16” powder coated steel basket with coco liner and same design retails for $38. So, for $6 more you would be receiving a much more durable product that won’t have issues w the links. Thankfully H+L has replacement chain links I can swap out since I am way outside of the Amazon return window and Arcadia refuses to assist at all. Let’s just hope the other 3 Arcadia baskets don’t decide to break and fall. Save the money and check out the $38 option (h00ks+Lattice).

Really like how sturdy the basket is on this planter. Unfortunately I could only give 4 stars as one of the hanging chains was broken. I have planned on replacing those with a heavier chain in order to hold the weight of my staghorn fern that will hang in the basket.

Thickness of supports and sturdiness is better than cheaper options that look similar. No assembly required. Appearance is quality. Weight is heavier than cheaper less durable options. I will buy more of these again. Wish the 14 inch was deeper and I’d like 4 holes for heavier duty chains. We’ll see how it holds up. Worth the price.

I always use these to put my Spring ferns in with Miracle grow potting soil. I always take them out of their original containers. They are much happier and with a little shake and feed, they grow like crazy. You can even split the fern in half and plant. It fills out quickly.

The basket is beautiful, but the chains are junk. I put my potted plant in it, and a chain broke when I picked it up the first time! Went to Walmart and got better chains. Easy fix but a little ridiculous for the price.

Brilliant all summer for huge fushia display as larger enough to hold moisture, never ever been so lovely. Winter mixed plants doing well as protects roots re cold and rain drains away. Does it stop raining this January?

Really lovely. Worth the $$$. Deep enough to hold a big hanging basket from Costco. The chains though to hang are not very robust. I worry about them snapping especially with extra weight of soil and water. These extend the time in between waterings. Plants are much happier in these than plastic.

First I would like to say that all the people claiming this is a really heavy item obviously never owned one that is actually heavy. This planter is not that heavy. The bands however are reasonably thick and make the planter fairly strong. They also give it a nice appearance in my opinion. The mat liner is really cheap and barely came close to the top edge. After loading it with dirt and plants I was moving it when the chain broke and the basket flipped over and all my plants and dirt fell to the ground. I hope that I saved the plants as I had to repot everything and am now left with the task of replacing the chains. Not happy. Bob S.
