These should not be used in the microwave. Turn on your oven with your cazuela in it and bring up to heat then put your food in to cook. Like a pizza stone.

How high are the sides on the 9.5" dish?

The outside measures 2 inches! I would say the inside is 2 inches in very middle, but an inch & a half on the inside sides.
