American DJ BLACK-24BLB 24" Black Light Fixture with bulb

I read the reviews for this product before buying it and was impressed at what people thought. However, considering how cheap it was, I thought people were praising the product based upon its quality for the price. I was wrong. This product is top-notch in quality and probably worth more than the current selling price. The lighting case is your typical black plastic holder that most standard fluorescent or black lights are housed in, so the quality of the housing is par with other similar products. What sets this light apart from others is its brightness and range. I bought it to supplement tubular black light bulbs I was putting into our fish tank to make our new "glowing" fish glow (those new cool genetically engineered zebrafish that glow with firefly genes). I installed the more expensive tubular black lights into the tank and our fish started glowing. Only after admiring the fish did I break out the other black light unit. Wow! Not only was it at least 20x brighter than the expensive tubular black lights, but it lit up the entire room! Everything was glowing! The range is so spectacular in my son's room (12'x17') that one light fixture pretty much lit up the entire room. And because of the cheap cost, I am ordering two more to go in the basement for the kid's parties. This product is absolutely worth the price and works better than the more expensive bulbs (without light-housing). Skip the bulbs and just buy one of these. You will not be disappointed!

Folks...this Blacklight is an absolute must have if you are either a DJ or just having a party! Traditional old school 2000s Blacklight style from back in the day. VERY HAPPY with it! Thanks so much!!! A+++

First let me comment about the way this was packaged. The retail packaging was packed great great, lots of styrofoam supporting the item and the glass tube. The packaging from Amazon was another story. Although the outer ship box was correct in size it was packed with that crappy butcher paper that Amazon has started to use. Totally unacceptable way to ship such a fragile item. Just a note, i ordered an item at the same time that was not at all fragile, and it came in a heavy duty box swimming in bubble wrap, also shipped by Amazon! Really? When you first get it out of the box you will have to remove the foam covering the tube. People have tried to remove the covering by cutting it for fear of damaging the tube by removing it. You have a really good chance of damaging it if you DON'T remove it. Relax, it's easy. Just place you thumbs and forefingers on the meatal ends of the tube (not the glass) and twist towards you until it releases 9you'll feel it). Then just pull straight out. See, no big deal! Remove the foam, and replace by doing just the opposite. Easy Peasy! Now for the review. The light itself is of very good quality, much better than i expected for the price. The Bulb itself was of super high quality, not a complaint! Some people have complained about the electrical cord being very short, and it is. It's just under 4 feet, but that is not unusual for these type of fixtures. The unit has holes so that it can be mounted vertically or horizontally. It also does not buzz like other lights of it's type, almost silent (very nice). The on/off switch is a very solid rocker. This unit gives out a true black light that is somewhat subdued. Many people think that a black light is supposed to be really bright in order to do it's job. Nonsense, bright lights that claim to be black lighs are nothing more than reqular lights with a color coating that turns the room a color. True black lights will glow a room with little actual "brightness". That is what this light does. This light will give an awesome glow to anything flourescent. If you need a replacement bulb you can get one at [...] for $9.99. It's the cheapest that i have found.

Item works fine, has 3ft cord, does not have name of product printed on it just has a small sticker with model number, and was packaged well. I believe they have changed the thickness of material, cord length and the print on it to make it less cost. Older ones have thicker material 6ft cord and label printed on it. All the bulbs of the 3 new ones i bought have something inside of them that rattles around but works fine.

Only right after I ordered this product while drooling over the price did I discover the list of bad ratings and warnings for item damage upon arrival. It just came in today, the last day of the estimated delivery. I set up a video camera by it and recorded me opening the package just in case it was broken, I wanted to return it, and needed evidence. Basically, it's a piece of crap. The bulb was literally broken in half and I dared not to take it out of the little cardboard holder but I could feel it. A lot of the pieces were scattered along the fixture and got on my carpet too. I was really looking forward to using this big fixture for an upcoming party but I don't think I can return and get a replace in time, especially due to their lack of shipping information and speed so I might as well buy another 4ft bulb. So my advice to all, do not buy American Dj products, at least not directly from them. Horrible shipping. Small box, and wasnt fully protected unlike the few other bulbs I got which came in just fine. UPDATE: I requested a return on February 21st for the bulb only. I contacted customer service back and forth for about a week and a half, all they asked for was a serial number of the item for the paperwork and that they would work on shipping out a new bulb. Today, I get a mail from Amazon saying that Astro Sales closed my return request because I WOULDN'T return the item. I had specifically asked for a new bulb replacement because mine came broken in half. They never asked me to return the item. And who wants 2 broken-in-half pieces of a bulb shipped back? Anways like I said, don't buy American DJ products from Astro Sales. I ended up buying the same brand bulb from blacklight.com. Great shipping.

Not as bright as it should be it’s okay but not that great

this blacklight is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! I had a GLOW party last week for my daughter's 11th birthday party and completely transformed my house! For the interior of the house, I went to Home Depot and purchased FEIT ELECTRIC SPIRAL backlight bulbs for $4.97 each that were used to replace 20 hi-hat bulbs on my first floor... I got the info from that brand on a review comment and it was correct! The bulbs worked great!... For the areas with no hi-hats that included my dining room & enclosed patio areas, I used AMERICAN DJ BLACKLIGHT LIGHT FIXTURES...THEY TOTALLY ROCKED!!! I ordered Five - 4-ft. lights and Two - 2-ft. lights.... IT WAS AMAZING!!! then 4-ft. light covered my entire Dining Room area without issue... the remaining lights were used to cover the outdoor enclosed patio area and it was AWESOME!!! All light fixtures were installed approximately 9 to 10-feet high above the windows... they all arrived in perfect condition and packaged well. I had only one of the 4-ft lights that had a defective bulb and would not work, but AMAZON replaced that fixture overnight without a problem and saved the day... the replacement was perfect and arrived on time for the party!!! After reading many reviews, I would STRONGLY URGE you to BUY AMERICAN DJ BLACKLIGHT PRODUCTS as they work phenomenal & install beautifully and are of sturdy construction. Thank you AMAZON & Thank you AMERICAN DJ!

The item came opened and damaged. Horrible experience and not work the amount at all

Its a great product works well with UV reactive tapestries and works well with a conventional 32 watt bulb as I have been using it as seen in the image for quite a while now to light up my living room would definitely recommend

Mittwoch bestellt, heute (Freitag) angekommen. Kabellänge ist in Ordnung und durch den Reflektor am Gehäuse geht weniger Licht verloren. Die Röhre sitzt im Gehäuse und ist für den Transport mit einer Schaumstoffhülle ummantelt. Ich bin begeistert!

Works properly as a black light. Many of the LED versions do not actually provide the black light effect.
