This comprehensive workbook set has been a fantastic tool for preventing the dreaded summer slide and ensuring my child is prepared for the upcoming school year. Hereโs why I love it: #### **Content and Coverage** The workbook covers an impressive range of subjectsโMath, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and even Fitness. Each section is thoughtfully designed to reinforce concepts from 5th grade and gradually introduce 6th-grade material. My child has particularly enjoyed the reading comprehension and writing activities, which are engaging and just challenging enough to keep her interested without causing frustration. The inclusion of fitness activities is a fun bonus, promoting physical activity alongside academic work. #### **Structure and Organization** The workbook is divided into daily activities, which makes it easy to manage and track progress. Each dayโs work is laid out clearly, with a mix of subjects to keep things interesting. I love that it doesnโt feel overwhelming; the bite-sized chunks are perfect for summer when kids want to balance learning with fun. The progress tracking stickers have been a hit with my daughter, giving her a sense of accomplishment as she completes each dayโs activities. #### **Educational Value** The educational value of this workbook is outstanding. It does a great job of reinforcing key skills while introducing new concepts in a way thatโs accessible and engaging. The math problems are varied and practical, covering everything from basic arithmetic to introductory geometry and fractions. The science and social studies sections are well-rounded, offering a broad spectrum of topics that are both informative and intriguing. #### **Flash Cards** The inclusion of flash cards is a fantastic addition. Theyโve been great for quick reviews and practice, especially for math facts and vocabulary. My child enjoys the interactive aspect of using the flash cards, and theyโve been a useful tool for reinforcing what sheโs learned in the workbook. Theyโre also convenient for on-the-go learning, making it easy to keep up with studies during car rides or while waiting for appointments. #### **Ease of Use** One of the best things about this workbook is how user-friendly it is. The instructions are clear, and the layout is intuitive, making it easy for kids to work independently. As a parent, I appreciate the answer key in the back, which makes it simple to check work and provide feedback. The workbook also includes tips and strategies for parents, which have been helpful in guiding my childโs learning. #### **Pros:** - **Comprehensive Coverage:** Includes a wide range of subjects, ensuring a well-rounded review. - **Daily Structure:** Organized into manageable daily tasks that prevent overwhelm. - **Engaging Content:** Keeps kids interested with diverse activities and topics. - **Flash Cards Included:** Great for quick review and reinforcing key concepts. - **Easy to Use:** Clear instructions and layout promote independent work. #### **Cons:** - **Paper Quality:** The pages could be a bit thicker to prevent bleed-through with markers. - **Limited Summer Themes:** More summer-themed activities could make it feel more seasonal. #### **Conclusion** Overall, the *Summer Bridge Activities 5th to 6th Grade Workbooks* are a fantastic resource for any parent looking to keep their childโs brain active and engaged over the summer. The mix of subjects, engaging activities, and clear structure make it a hit in our household. My daughter has enjoyed using it, and Iโve seen a noticeable improvement in her readiness for the next school year. I highly recommend this workbook for any parent wanting to combine learning with fun over the summer. This workbook has made our summer learning routine enjoyable and effective, and Iโm confident it will be a great asset for your child as well! Review: Been using for over 8 years each summer, get the book one year ahead. - We use these every year. If my child is going into 1st grade, we will get him the 2nd to 3rd grade book. We do not use the K to first-grade book. These books have really helped my children prepare for the upcoming year, especially the math sections. We keep to the schedule of only one page a day (front and back). Yes, your child may not fully comprehend some stuff because it is for the upcoming year, but it is not hard for a parent to spend just about 5 minutes explaining the concept. Both my sons have used this company, and the following school year, they are not surprised by the upcoming materials, again especially the upcoming math. The book comes with star stickers to reward the kids....we never used them. The book also has outdoor activities for the kids to get "some" exercise for the day. It is nothing big, for instance, for little kids, "go outside and count the different types of trees you see from your front yard." The book primarily consists of language and math, but it also includes sections that cover geology, history, and other subjects. The non-English and math sections are mini-lessons and there are only about one per topic. Bottom line, these books are mostly reading/English and math exercises.

A Perfect Summer Prep for rising 6th Graders
The Summer Bridge book for 5th-6th grade is an outstanding tool for helping students stay sharp over the summer and prepare for the next school year. It does a great job of combining a review of key 5th-grade skills with introducing new concepts they'll encounter in 6th grade. The activities are engaging, well-structured, and designed to reinforce important skills across math, reading, writing, and critical thinking. What I love most is how it helps students feel more confident and ready for 6th grade. By working through this book over the summer, my students will be much better prepared than those who donโt have the same opportunity. It's a fantastic way to ensure they are not only reviewing what theyโve learned but also setting a strong foundation for the challenges ahead. Overall, I highly recommend the Summer Bridge book for 5th graders. Itโs a perfect blend of fun and learning that keeps kids engaged while preparing them for success in 6th grade.

Great Summer Learning Resource
This is a great book for summer practice. It gives a variety of skills to help students keep up and not fall into summer learning loss. I really liked that it had the IXL skill referenced on the pages. It also has the reference charts as well, multiplication chart , place value chart, writing process, etc. The flash cards were also a great resource. The only negative is that it does not give enough space to work through the math problems. 5th graders do not write that small and need more space. So they will definitely need to have extra paper to solve the math problems. It also does only gives examples on some of the math problems, not all and no examples for any of the other subjects.

Keeps minds sharp while preparing for the next grade.
I get this every year for my child since Pre-K. This past summer I purchased the 5-6th grade. Itโs good practice, especially for reading, writing and math. It has kept his mind sharp with lesson reviews of the previous year, and introductions to new lessons for the upcoming year.

Great Way To Keep The Skills Fresh Over The Summer!
This is a great activity book to help keep your child stay mentally active when out of school for the summer. Over the years we have purchased a few different Summer Bridge books for our daughter. These books are not meant to be a full school curriculum, but instead a way to keep children mentally active during the summer break. Each summer we do our best to keep skills active and minimize the loss during the extended break. While we sometimes mix in other work to help her to increase skills, we are more worried about the atrophy that happens when not in school. It can be tough returning to school after 3 months without any schoolwork and we try to help her keep topics fresh without filling her summer with full days of 'school' work. As with other books in this series, this is a solid mix of skills with some being easy and others more of stretch. The difficulty level will likely depend on the schooling your child got during the academic year. I suspect most kids heading into sixth grade will find much of the work in this book at least a strong refresher and potentially give them a nudge in some areas. The exercises are organized to be a roughly 15 minute daily regime but you may decide to enhance it with other work if your child has areas that need more attention (i.e., add in more math or spelling activities). This book is not deficient in an area, we just occasionally add a little extra for topics that we feel could use a bit more work while still keeping the total workload to around 45-60 minutes per day. The Summer Bridge Activities book is a constant though with at least one page used almost every day and the other work rotated.

ITS GREAT!!!!!!!! 10/10! <3
The Summer Bridge Activities 5th to 6th Grade Workbook (Volume 7) is an excellent all-in-one resource designed to keep kids academically engaged over the summer break. Covering essential subjects like math, language arts, science, social studies, and even fitness, it offers a well-rounded approach to learning that helps students maintain and build on what they learned in 5th grade while preparing for the challenges of 6th. The workbook is broken into daily, easy-to-follow exercises that are both fun and educational, making it manageable and less overwhelming for kids. Included flash cards, eBooks, and bonus online activities provide added reinforcement and variety, which helps keep students motivated and reduces screen time dependency. Parents appreciate the structured layout and the balance between academics and enrichment activities like goal setting and outdoor challenges. Whether used as a summer refresher or extra practice during the school year, this workbook is a reliable and engaging tool for boosting confidence and preventing learning loss between grades. But it has American things in it

American curriculum
I exchanged this for a Canadian curriculum book. I also found the activities rather advanced for the supposed grade level, while flipping through the book.
