Question 1

does the wick ever need to be adjusted and how

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every time you light the heater the wick will need to be adjusted. There is only one optimum height for the flame, and so, only one optimum heat output for the heater. After lighting, let it burn for several minutes, then start watching to see that the flame doesn't get too high. Too high a flame can produce soot. If the flame is getting too high, you turn the wick adjusting knob counterclockwise to lower the wick thus lowering the flame hight. Conversely, if the flame is too low, excess carbon monoxide can be produced. Turning the wick adjusting knob clockwise will raise the flame height. You will need to check the flame several times during the first 15 minutes of operation while the heater gets up to operating temperature. This is all explained with illustrations in the instruction manual.

Question 2

will this heater run on #2 diesel?

Accepted Answer

Yes, but you'll have to perform maintenance on the unit more frequently. Especially if the fuel contains additives like dye. If you can't afford to be without heat... I suggest you buy a second unit as backup for those down times.Rosshirsch@aol.com

Question 3

how many gallons of kerosene it holds

Accepted Answer

I think it holds about 1 1/2 gallonsAfter I got home I looked at the description on Amazon's website it states "Fuel capacity of 1.9 gallons & 1.9 gallons of kerosene will provide 12 hours of heat"If it is completely full and you run it empty it would probably run for 8-10 hour in my estimation.

Question 4

Do you have to use 1k kerosene or will any type of kerosene work?

Accepted Answer

Hello,
Yes for best performance it is important to use K1 Clear Kerosene.
Red Dye or other kerosene types may cause soot and smoke as they tend to increase residue build up on the wick, leading to uneven flame and burning of this built up substance ...
Kerosene can NOT be substituted with any other fuel.
