I mailed this to my out of town granddaugthers along with other birthday goodies for their birthdays and made it a "Party in a Box". They loved it and sent pictures of the cake after they baked and iced it. I had also sent candles and Birthday napkins and paper plates. It was fun for me to put it together since I wasn't able to be with them in person.

This is so easy to make in your microwave. It’s incredible. I substitute the oil for Weed oil and it works fine. There’s a trick to cooking them if you have a variable powered microwave oven start 300 W until you see it start the form like these peaks and mountains and then stop it and cook it at high power for about another minute or so do not overcook it it will come out like a rock

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the yellow cake with chocolate frosting was. The cake was great! Frosting could be better, and I hate the squeeze packet it came in, but it's not bad. The cake is the perfect size for a small event or dessert for for a few people, with minimal cleanup. The box says 4 servings, and required an egg, 2TBSP of vegetable oil, and 3 TBSP of water. I love that it comes with a pan, and the cake easily came out. The diameter is a little smaller than the height of my bottle water. I'll definitely buy it again for the price I paid - $2. For the two of us, anytime we make a cake, half of it goes to waste. I love these little cakes, but if the price goes up (like it tends to do on amazon), we'll probably buy regular sized stuff.

Easy, quick little cake, perfect for one person.

To be honest, I'm eating the whole thing by myself in one sitting. This product provides the very satisfying experience of eating an entire cake. There is some impressive food science going on that produces a delightfully fluffy and spongy cake right out of the microwave. It's a little bit dry, but just have it with milk or coffee or something. I have two main problems with it. First, the smell. While it's cooking, it releases all of the sulfur in the egg into the microwave and out into the kitchen. I mean all of it. Your whole kitchen will smell like really bad rotten egg farts. It's not very appetizing, but I smell like that sometimes anyway, so I can power through it. Fortunately, by the time it's done cooking and cooled, none of that smell lingers in the cake itself. The flavor also isn't eggy at all, it's pleasantly delicate. I really mean ALL of the smell leaves the cake, it's bizarre. Second, the frosting. It's too thick. Even if you run it under hot water to soften it up, it's still too thick. The cake is extremely soft, so trying to spread a frosting of normal consistency on it is impossible. It really ought to be a thin icing, almost syrup-like. But even if it was easy to spread, this frosting is way too rich to eat. It's inedible. The flavor is fine, a bit chemically artificial, but serviceable. But when you eat one bite of it, the frosting is so rich that it makes you want to stop eating. I want the experience of eating an entire cake, so I just throw away the frosting and eat the cake unfrosted. One time, late at night and without any sweet snacks in the house, I opened a box just to eat some of the frosting out of the pouch. I don't recommend doing that. The cake also sticks to the plate, so good luck if you want to make it presentable. I just eat it out of the plate with a fork, so this doesn't affect my rating. Overall, it's great value and convenience for the money, but I don't see myself buying more of this particular one unless they switch to a thin frosting, and maybe use powdered egg or something to curb the awful smell. I read that instant cake mixes only require eggs in order to make housewives from the 1950s feel like they're baking for real. It's 2026, women go to work now, just put powdered egg in it.

Gosh, Memories of Microwave cake kit I used to buy. I had to try it. BUT...This wasn't it. They were soft and fluffy and made a nice little 8" square cake that was mixed in the pan This is the WORST cake I have ever eaten. I have never had to eat a cake with a knife and fork. It was SO tough and dry...like eating a kitchen sponge. I did not over cook it. I used to be a professional cook. It stuck to the pan and we had to pry it out. We ate a slice and thew the rest away. I regret buying two of these. Waste of money.

Read the directions :) it’s important the pan included doesn’t overheat to reduce exposure. Cake is great, you can mix it in the bowl, it’s nonstick
