Excellent Design & Build, Easy Operation, Good Sound Quality
I bought this unit because of the simple design, the price, and the many high rated reviews (very nearly 5 stars over 40 reviews). However now I think I understand why the review ratings are so high. The unit I purchased had a note that offered a free $10 Amazon gift card by simply entering a 4 digit code at their designated website, which I did, but did not immediately receive the free gift card. Instead I received an e-mail requesting a screenshot of my Amazon review before the gift card would be sent. Although this does not necessarily mean a negative review doesn't get the free gift card, this process could tempt a reviewer to provide a positive or stellar review in the hope the free gift card is sent. Hence it is my opinion that some high reviews are genuine while others could be influenced by the free gift card. After I replied to the e-mail recommending the supplier provide the free gift card as originally promised, they did in fact send it to me before my review (which is shown below).Okay, with that said, here is my review (which is not influenced by the free gift card I received). This USB digital recorder looks just like a USB flash drive, the case appears to be metal and feels very solid in your hand. The recorder is controlled at one end (switch, light, microphone, reset), and at the other end is a standard USB connector for downloading your recording to a PC, which is very easy to do since it acts like a thumb drive. There is no volume control, that is done automatically via the internal circuit, nevertheless I am impressed with the sensitivity of the sound pickup. I turned it on and placed it in my pocket and walked around, it easily picked up conversations around me with decent clarity that I could understand what's being said. In my pocket the unit picked up some rustling from my pants but this issue is eliminated by placing the unit in a location where it is not moving. Also the playback had some echoing like the speaker was in an empty chamber but the playback can still be understood okay, this issue is not prominent but does exist (and I deducted one star for this). I haven't had the unit long enough to check the battery performance. The unit comes in it's own rectangular metal case with internal foam that is fitted specifically for the recorder unit, and the case cover has a clear plastic window that shows the recorder unit inside. It appears well designed and manufactured and is simple to use and simple to transfer the recordings to a PC. Overall I am glad that I purchased it and the price I paid ($16.14) is very reasonable. I do recommend it to others and I would buy it again if that ever became necessary. I am a happy customer.

Nice, convenient, but it clips
For work, I am in meetings most of the day and like to record the conversations for the sake of note-taking. I use this tool for 3-4 hours of recording each day and rely on it for work. (it is actually one of my primary recorders)The plusses:- I like that it feels high quality, not cheap. At the time of this review, I've had it for a month. It works solidly, no bugs or problems.- It is discreet, it looks just like a flash/thumb drive, it is the same size as a flash/thumb drive- it is user-friendly, no learning curve. Simply turn on to record, turn off to stop (although it would be nice to know how much battery is left, maybe it can show it on your computer when you plug in?)- It automatically names each WAV file by the date and time - great! Big fan of that feature. The minuses- As mentioned already, no way to tell how much battery is left so make sure it is charged all the time to be safe (not a huge issue so far but...)- The size of the files that it saves are huge! I don't get it, why is it recorded in 16 bit WAV yet it takes up so much space? A half hour recording is over 100MB (!). Other recorders I use take up a fraction of that.- For some reason the audio lower and upper limits are really tight so it clips very easily (see the image attached). What that means is that you don't have to be very loud for it to start clipping and then the recording will sound terrible. I have learned to set this recorder on the far end of the desk or even on the other side of the room so that it doesn't max out and start clipping, then I can actually hear what people are saying rather than muffled fuzzy sound bursts.Overall, it is a decent reliable tool if you can learn to work around the clipping. I'd gladly change my review to four or five stars if they fixed that.UPDATE: It has been two years I have owned this. I changed it to four stars because it is DEPENDABLE and has outlasted several other recorders I've tried out. Also, the battery life is fantastic, it will record for 10-20 hours on one charge. I've managed the clipping by keeping it at a distance, but I still wish the file size was smaller.

Excellent quality!
The media could not be loaded. I use it daily, have been for the last 7 months, mostly for recording in my hobby, trolling telemarketers. The recorder doesn't record directly from the phone, but in speaker mode, with the recorder about a foot to three feet away, it picks up everything extremely well. The video I uploaded is a pretty short one showing how well it works with the phone in speaker mode a couple of feet away. It even picks up pretty well in a shirt pocket. And since it is also a good USB drive, AND had most standard and micro USB, it's great for use as a portable drive and for transferring files between my computer and phone.Very sturdy metal case too. Very solid feel, not like cheap junk. It hold enough power to record for over 10 hours straight. I accidentally left it on one night and when I got up it was still recording. I didn't notice but I got a telemarketer call and when I went to record it, I turned it off thinking I was turning it on. That recording was just a few minutes short of 10 hours. It took maybe 15 minutes to recharge the battery by just plugging it into my computer. My only complaint is that the "ON /OFF" is hard to read in low light, but I just files a little notch in it on the "Off" side and so even in the dark I can feel where the OFF is.

Good buy
It was a good buy. The only thing is that the voice was kind of far but I used it for a big classroom
