You didn't mention the TV size so....the inside does not have any obstructions, so it is actual size.

It's like those white plastic type fences around. I'm sure you can paint with the correct paint. Just ordered our second one. It's so nice and easy to put together.

Could this box be put together without the bottom?

Since the sides do click together, technically, it probably could…but, I would think it would be quite unstable. The lid is not the lightest piece and the sides secure the hinges for the lid. So, yes, but wouldn’t be super strong.
