Energy saving bulbs
I have now changed all the bulbs in my house for energy savers, a 9W bulb gives a similar amount of light to a 45W Tungsten, thats a similar amount of light for 20% of the energy, 80% off my lighting bill was quite attractive.I have a fitting with 5 bulbs that is on for around 8 hrs a day in the Winter months, so thats 5 x 60W = 300W being replaced by 5 x 9W = 45W, although lighting is not a major part of my electricity bill, it is still potentially a worthwhile saving. It took me a while to get used to these bulbs, they give off a different type of light! it seems more white, but now I prefer them to the older ones.Call me cynical but now people are fitting these and other energy saving devices, it seems that the electricity prices are really rocketing! more profit for generating less electricity?? no surely not, they sell us these things telling us we must think of the enviroment, but really they are making more profit, good old UK!!I would have given these bulbs 5 stars but during the two years they have been in I have had three fail, they still lasted longer than the original Tungsten but a bit short of there advertised 6 year or 6000hr life.
