A cynical view of power hungry people
A required reading classic that I simply had to re-read and own again. I gave my copy away over 10 years ago when I encouraged my 9 year old granddaughter to read it. She enjoyed the story as much as she enjoyed her English teacher's response to her reading it.This was the 75th anniversary paperback edition which was of a poor quality binding. The introduction by Tea Obreht was excellent but here is a spoiler alert if you have not read the book beforehand. I suggest going back after you finish and then read her insights which were pretty good. The cynical and accurate story is how corruption and hunger for power is not limited but like a cancer it will devour many that start out well intentioned. It also points how the ignorant and uneducated can be easily misguided by charismatic, intelligent evil people.

Timeless Orwell
Pigs to lead and Sheep to cheer (or make a fuss for opposition not to be heard)! Did Orwell get the politics of his time (of the past and of the future) perfectly or what? This book should be taught in schools from kindergarten to university. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Politics is full display
Great way to explain how politics works, clearly communism falls more into this way, but in some aspects and tactics, many politicians play it.The story reflects reality about those who believe the lies of the politicians and always support them when they are abusing the people!

Fantasy or Fantastic? Fiction or Foretelling. Satire or...
After a recent conversation about banned books and classic books, I decided to revisit Animal Farm. Fantasy, fiction, or foretelling? Mostly the first and the last I think. IMO George Orwell was a genius. Using animals to explain human behavior until the animals start mimicking human behavior. How they begin by communicating, learning, working together, and trusting one another. And how quickly that turns to working against one another, distrusting one another, from good communication to misinformation. How some are so easily able to brainwash others and how many are so willing to believe what they are told instead of what they know to be true deep in their souls. How their history is being continually rewritten to serve the narrative. Aaahhh, from satire of the Russian revolution to current day politics... I'll let you draw your own conclusions but I was easily able to rename many of these characters after people that are frequently in our current newscasts 🤷
