HELLA 165530801 500/500FF Series Protective Grille Cover - 2 Piece, Multi

These are the items that put the finishing touch on my lights.

Fit Hella 500 well but not too loose. So far, have been through an automatic wash once with no issues.

Pricey for what they are. Classic brand name and product. Fast shipping. Looks great, adds protection to the glass lenses

They come in a clamshell, so be careful when opening. I wish they were a little more substantial (thicker plastic) for better protection I bought these to use with the 500 lights, so i would not have to leave the full coverage covers on all the time. The 3 clamps they have molded into them hold excellent. They are positioned in the same 3 spots as the solid covers. Taking them off seem to be easiest from the bottom where a tab is located on each side of the stem. There is less torque applied using this method, then trying to unsnap the top tab first. Put them 'on' with the top tab positioned first. Then use both hands to snap the bottom tabs into place, This minimizes any torque applied to the plastic housing. I think this is where some reviewers complained about cracking the plastic housing. UPDATE: 06/20/2018 These lens protectors have done their job on gravel and back-country roads. The Plastic has withstood the desert sun so far(not cracked). With that said, i have not tried taking them on and off over the course of purchase. Once i complete a fog light install, these lights will become true driving lights again, and i will have to use the full covers to maintain legality(maybe?). In Nevada this is not the problem that some states and localities use to fine motorists who have more than 4 lights, whether on or off at the time of a vehicle stop. In those states the extra lighting have to be covered when on road. As others have mentioned, the plastic cross bars could be double/triple the thickness, and provide better protection. Any stone bigger than a small marble at street or hwy speeds, will overpower the plastic, resulting in a broken lens(my opinion). With that said, they do their job, look good, and are better than leaving the lens bare of any protection.

Bought these to add to the fog lights. I didn’t like the covers they came with originally. Who wants to get out and take the covers off before you can even use the lights? These were a huge improvement and look way better as well. They do not feel extremely durable but so far they have surprised me and show no signs of cracking or fading. They do not affect the light output. I kept one on and one off for a test run and noticed no difference.

My Hella 500FF lights I bought came with those ugly, solid white covers. So, I either had to keep them on displaying that I had Hella lights that aren't on, or keep them off showing that I just have working lights. When these came in I was ectatic! Not only do they look amazing on my 2001 Toyota Tacoma, but there is no light obstruction from them. My bull bar is black, so they match-up looks sharp! They are made of a really heavy-duty plastic, too which is nice. They clipped on in two seconds and they stay on tight. I am very impressed with this product, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants their truck to stand out from the rest.

Although these are not street legal in PA for use on driving lights, I use them on my daily driver. They fit great and so far, do their job, no stone chips. I would buy them again(actually this is my second set, previously used on a different vehicle).
