A wonderful book that opens up the teachings of Latter Day Saints. Gives a view of how the Presidents saw their role in teaching, and what they saw as important.

Joseph Smith was a con artist
I used to be in the "priesthood." All they cared about was my money and my devotion to this con artist. I miss some of the mormons because the were very lovable people

A good, concise collection of Joseph Smith's teachings
There are more complete books on the teachings of this man who taught on a wide variety of subjects, but this one is designed for a weekly Sunday School type class, and is one of a series of about 13 volumes on the teachings of the Prophets of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day SaintsIt consists of 47 chapters, by subject, but arranged in somewhat chronological order from Joseph Smith's first vision to his martyrdom, they cover his teachings on God and Jesus Christ, their personalities and attributes, the Book of Mormon, repentance, the mission of John the Baptist, prayer and personal revelation, obedience, the Plan of Salvation for mankind, co-operation and unity, responding to persecution, love and charity, forgiveness, redemption of the dead, the Wentworth Letter, and other subjects. Most of the text is in the form of quotations from Joseph Smith, with brief introductions and connecting material. At the end of each chapter are study questions for discussion and a list of footnotes and sources for that chapter. As an introduction to this most interesting man, and considering the price, it is excellent. Complete? By no means, such a collection (and they have been done) generally consist of multiple volumes. But for someone who wants a fairly concise volume, this is a good one.
