Q: can it be used in the passenger seat?

Yes it can be used in the passenger seat. However if you have a lhasa apso (like i do) or a maltese or cocker spaniel this will not fit them. They won't be able to lay down. They could only sit upright. But if you plan on travelling a long way, don't buy this. I made the mistake of buying it for my lhasa and he wasn't able to lay down at all. I felt so bad. I ended up taking it out and he ended up laying right on the passenger seat itself.

Q: Would these car seats be long enough for a dachshund to comfortably sit it?

Sit yes, my Frenchie prefers to lay down after a short time and it is rather cramped.

Q: is the inside bed part removable/washable in case dog gets car sick?

The interior seat can be removed for cleaning but the interior fabric covering is not removeable. Thank you for this question.
