A must-have for induction cooktops
I've been using the 11 inch version of the Induction Cooktop Mat for nine months. I've returned today to purchase a second smaller one, and - though I don't often write reviews - thought my experience warranted doing so. I purchased a Samsung induction range and was wary of using my cast iron and carbon steel pans on the surface without some sort of protection. In the nine months since purchasing this mat, I have used it every day. It has discolored from use, but it has never once done any less than promised; namely protect the delicate cook surface, which looks as new as the day it was installed. With thunderstorms threatening tonight, I seared two ribeye steaks on high heat in a cast iron pan. When done, I wiped both the mat and the cooktop - with no issues whatsoever. Bottom line: Sure, the mat is discolored; I would expect it to be based on its composition. I didn't buy it as a stunning centerpiece to impress my friends, I bought it to keep my expensive range from getting scratched up when I use my favorite cookware. This is does very well and I can't recommend it enough for that reason... unless you have a glass-top electric range. Some of the negative reviews for this mat seem to be from folks who may not know the difference - so please make sure you're 100% certain you have induction before using a cooktop mat, or you're in for one hell of a disappointment.

Very thick high quality mats!
So far, so good. I ran my induction cooktop at 440°F for about 10 minutes as a trial run before dropping it back down to 300°F, and the mat held up perfectly. I had seen a few reviews mentioning marks being left on the cooktop after first use, so I washed the mat beforehand in case there were any residual manufacturing oils or residues. After use, there were no marks at all. No discoloration after the first use either, though I do expect some over time with regular high-heat cooking. The grip is excellent with zero slipping during use. I also bought a cheaper multi-pack from another brand, and the difference in thickness is immediately noticeable. These mats are substantially thicker and feel much more durable, which makes me think they’ll hold up far better long term.

Not recommended: Protects the cooktop but nearly doubles cooking time
Summary: expensive waste of money. Yes it will stop a pan from scratching the cooktop, but it also doubles the cooking time because the thickness of the mat weakens the magnetic field. Kind of defeats one of the primary benefits of induction. Wasted $90 on a set of four of these. +1 star for protecting the cooktop. The product does that job quite nicely and the pan doesn't slide around when stirring something. -4 stars for fact that it drastically cuts the heat output of an induction cooktop. It is too thick and the magnetic field is not as strong as when the pan is sitting directly on the cooktop. You can tell by the sound of the induction cooktop and the fact that when turning heat to Turbo mode, nothing much happens. Where I used to cook on a setting of 5-6, I now have to go to 9 or H. Where previously I couldn't use Turbo mode unless I was boiling water because everything would burn in less than 20-30 seconds, I have frequently used Turbo mode to cook the whole meal because it doesn't get hot enough to burn. I have timed this multiple times to make sure I was not imagining this. My test method: Turbo mode (highest setting on my induction range), Le Creuset teapot, 2 cups of 60 degree water heated to full boil as indicated by whistle going off. Cool teapot to room temperature and repeat. Average of 5 tests without mat in place was 1 min 18 secs. Average of 5 tests with mat in place was 2 min 47 secs. I have tested this with cast iron, an expensive Viking cookware set, and a nice blue steel Rosle pan that is my most magnetic and easily heated pan. All take double or longer time to achieve the same results as using no mat or a paper towel.

Work well
We mainly got these because the glass top on our new induction cooktop was starting to get scratches from our cookware. These work great with our GreenPan pots, transfer heat just fine and have saved our new induction cooktop from scratches. As a bonus they keep the pots from sliding around while cooking/steering which is helpful. We got the 7.8 and 9.4in, the 9.4in is big enough even for our largest pans.

Great for protecting induction cooktops. Get dirty after a while.
When we were rehabbing our kitchen, my wife found us a ridiculous deal on a fancy double-oven induction range (GE Cafe). It's a great piece of equipment (never want to go back from induction) and I wanted to protect the surface from scratches and stains. This product looked like the answer. I got just one large one, because it's the big burner that sees the most action and gets the large cast-iron skillet we use constantly. It works. We've had no problems related to heat -- no scorching or curling or anything. They have kept the stove surface pristine, except for once when when someone decided not to use it, which left a couple of baked-on stains we're still working to remove. So ... use it! As for durability, these are quite tough, but do pick up stains. You can scrub them or put them in the dishwasher, but eventually they take on a "food brown" color that won't come off, so they don't look as nice sitting on the stove. They're not easy to damage, and we only managed once when it was sitting on the countertop and someone nicked it with a pair of scissors (don't use it as a cutting board). We're on our third one, and plan to keep using these. I do wish they didn't pick up stains or cost a bit less, so I'm deducting one star. Otherwise they're great, and I haven't seen anything else designed to do this exact job. Four decent, hardworking stars

Appears Well-Made But Pricey!
Bought this induction range protector to prevent scratches on our new range’s glass top. This product is ONLY repeat ONLY for induction cooktops, NOT for electric glass top radiant ranges. If you try using this on a conventional radiant burner, it will be destroyed. That said, I tested this mat to boil a pot of water and then another pot of water with no mat. I could not detect any difference in the time to boil water. I have used the mat to sauté vegetables and brown meat with excellent results. That said, these mats are pricey!!

Attractive induction glass top protector
When our cooktop center element needed to be repaired at a cost of over $700.00 I decided to try and determine why the electronics failed. When I removed the top I noticed the two burner areas that are most often used were discolored amber. I reasoned that the heat build up may have prematurely damaged the circuitry when using cast iron cookware. I am pleased with these pads. They are attractive enough to leave on the cooktop when not in use. They work well at reducing the radiant heat emanating from the cast iron cookware. They are super easy to clean. And, as they advertise, the pads are anti-slip and will protect the glass from scratches. I haven’t found scratching to be an issue with our cooktop and it wasn’t a consideration in my purchase.

Mostly good experience - for the first few years but potential fire hazard.
2020 Review: So I have an induction oven and I don't want the glass to be scratched to heck... so this is a rare, good solution. The item has a good concept, but I don't know if it's the nature of the beast or what, but it can't get too hot... one time it sparked and almost got too hot (maybe caught on fire!?!)... so I watch it when I use high heat. Otherwise, I love the idea of it and I bought extras for when the first set get worn out. There aren't many other ideas for protecting glass induction ovens, so I am happy with this item! 2025 Update: So, this item blackened and didn't look good quickly, but it seemed to work for many years. Then, about five years later, this item caught on fire. I do Not understand why or how, but I am guessing it got worn down and is no longer safe. Thank goodness I was there to see it and stop it. I am not happy about how things ended. Not sure if I will buy again or search for an alternative. Dec. 2025 - this is a love-hate relationship with this item. I love it because it helps protect my glass from scratches with my pots and pans, but every once in a while on high heat, it catches on fire. My new one that’s only a year old also caught on fire today. I’m sad.

Stained
After using the silicon pad on my induction cooker, it stained the base of my Le Creuset Pot. Please see photo attached and get in touch with me. Thanks

worth the $$$
works excellent, has made a huge difference to stop sliding of pots on our induction. Does not effect the cooking speed either.
