Great TV at a great price
If you donโt want to spend hours or days looking for a tv that ticks all the boxes then this is the one to go for! Itโs got the brand name Itโs big Looks nice Sounds good (as much as one can expect from standard flat screen speakers) It has all the modern features Great price Sure there could be others that do the same at a lower price but are they Sony Bravia? Only niggle Iโve found is as others have also mentioned that the WiFi needs resetting every so often There might be a fix or a work around or perhaps Iโm doing something wrong but in my case I mainly use the sky Q box so Iโm good!

Excellent Purchase
I purchased this television as a replacement for my 12 year old Sharp HD that has given me good service. However, I was amazed at the difference in picture quality on this Sony Bravia. The colours are vibrant and the contrast is excellent even when watching non HD channels. Sound quality was as good as can be expected from a flat screen tv, however I connected mind to a sound bar and sub woofer for the best results. Set up was easy just follow the on screen instructions and you should not encounter any problems. A few tips which you might find useful. When reading the specifications prior to ordering, I did not like the stand that was included with the item because it did not have a swivel facility and also there would be insufficient clearance for the sound bar which I place in front of the television. I therefore ordered at the same time a universal stand with a swivel facility - there are a number available from Amazon priced from around ยฃ20. Also 2 of the HDMI outlets are on the side at the back of the television. You will need a 270 degree adapter or a HDMI cable with a 270 degree connector to avoid bending the cable. Also if like me you are connecting a Sky Q box you will have to adjust the settings on the sky box if this is the first time that it has been connected to a 4K UHD tv. In conclusion an excellent purchase for a good price

Best quality, best brand, best price.
So pleased I purchased this TV. My trust in Sony paid off. Brilliant quality of picture and sound. My old Sony TV, gave a first class picture, but lacked the modern touch of features such as 4K and being Smart. I also feel the price I paid is very competitive and definitely below the price from Sony direct.

2019 model reviewed.
as you would expect from a sony, the picture is second to none, the picture quality is first class.there is a custom setting if you dont like the vivid or standard picture options.the tv is light to transport and has a slim design.the remote control for the most part is useless.if you select home or options and other buttons nothing happens.netflix and you tube buttons respond instantly .i have tried all different things regards the remote instant access.i can access smart tv but not as i am watching tv.also the sound is very tinny and disappointing.my last sony had great sound.so if you do purchase one of these ideally you will need a sound bar or a home theatre system.overall this is a very nice sleek looking tv with superb picture quality.

Good entry level smart TV
This TV has good picture quality, basic audio capability and basic smart TV features. It is very good value, i.e. reasonably cheap but of good quality. It has three USB ports, one of which can be used to connect a USB drive for recording TV programmes. I have used a Sandisk 128GB thumb drive which must be plugged in to the USB port no. 3. It is quite easy to record programmes simply by viewing the TV guide screen and pressing the record button on the remote when the desired programme is selected. The TV needs to be connected to the internet if you want to use the smart features. Freeview Play is supported via a TV aerial. Initial set-up and connection is quite quick and easy. The TV comes with all the main apps for streaming from services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, ITV Hub, Channel 4, and so on. You will need a membership subscription or free account for some of these services. The audio is fine for general use, but nothing special. If you want cinema style sound then you'd need to add external speakers and so on, to suit your taste.

Disappointing
Unfortunately I am quite disappointed in this TV. I have had it over a year and I tried to give it time but I felt let down from the minute I opened the box. I am a huge Sony fan, I love their products, and they have always been of superb quality. I have had every PlayStation including the PlayStation 5, I've had their stereos, their Walkmans, their MP3 players and overall a huge amount of their products, but I have never had one of their TVs. Hearing only good things about the Bravia series and my previous TV, an LG 1080p smart Cinema 3D TV going wrong after 5-years (in fact two in the household that both went wrong almost in the same week) I wanted to move away from LG as despite being one of the best picture quality that I had ever seen it felt quite strange that they both died with very similar issues after only 5 years so I thought I would try a Sony TV. I couldn't afford ยฃ1,000 to spend on a TV, so I threw half that on this Sony Bravia KD49 XG70 series, perhaps only classed as a mid-range product, ยฃ500 is still a lot of money to spend on the TV, and whilst I don't expect all the latest features I do expect the ones that I get to work. Firstly I'm not sure who to blame here whether Sony or the seller, but the TV came with massive light bleed, which may not always annoy everybody but it is something that really grinds my gears and nor is it subtle. It is fine when watching something colourful but if you watch something with a lot of black on the screen or a dark scene the bottom half of the screen is just a kind of washed out Grey. What makes it worse is the fact you can push it around so even just cleaning the TV can create a bigger or smaller bleed but since you can only see it from a distance it makes it incredibly hard to settle it right, not that it is possible to get rid of it entirely or even to an acceptable amount, it is possible to alleviate it (but as I said even at its best it is still very unacceptable) but all this makes it hard to clean the screen in fear of making it worse. My second issue comes with dead pixels, there are a lot. In total there are 3 single pixels that are dead all in different places on the screen, and there is a whole line of dead pixels on the right hand side and a diagonal line on the bottom right. But of course manufacturers will often state that it is just a by-product, at least to have one or two, and granted it is impossible to see them at a distance, but not up close and it is irrelevant because I know they are there. Thirdly we come to the HDR. Only 2 of the 3 HDMI ports allow for full HDR ( and 3 HDMI ports is already lacking in my opinion especially when you have multiple devices that use HDR) and the two that do work is of very questionable quality and I often find it better to turn it off. I am no novice at setting these things up either, I know how to calibrate the TV perfectly. I have a ridiculously fast internet, and the TV is hardwired, yet you'll find a lot of compression artifacts especially on HDR, and while some streaming services are better than others even the best is not great. You are often finding yourself fiddling with the settings for each program independently which can become tiresome. Now let us get to the apps themselves, whilst I believe it uses Android, you have no control over what apps you can use, you do get prime video, Netflix, BBC iPlayer and some other catch up TV channels but it is very limited and it is still missing some of the main ones. In fact I don't use any of the apps and prefer to use a third-party item like the fire stick. Not only are they incredibly slow and sluggish, they constantly crash, especially Netflix, and they don't just crash to the dashboard they freeze your whole TV, and you often have to actually manually pull out the power cord. There is a very tiny on off button on the back but is a gamble if it works. There have been multiple firmware updates in this TV and none of them have fixed this issue, nor has a factory reset and in fact Googling it finds other people with similar issues. Now let's come to the picture quality. Watching standard definition TV channels is atrocious. The quality is fuzzy and just terrible all around. It is not the aerial, it is not the pixels per inch, it is just bad. I have tested this with a similar sized TV right next to it using the same aerial and there is no problem whatsoever, so I know it is just the TV. However it is not all bad, so long as you're using the right HDMI ports, and a third-party device (be it roku, fire stick, ps5, series X etc) the picture quality is actually exceptional, at least when HDR isn't on. However HDR on the PlayStation is actually really good so long as you have the HDR permanently enabled on the PlayStation. However having it in game mode ( which you can't do with HDR on ) looks pretty washed out, but it is acceptable. This does however bring an issue with the Xbox. Whilst the TV will switch to HDR on games that have it enabled ( but Microsoft's own "auto HDR" is very hit or Miss) automatically what it won't do is switch to game mode on games that do not have HDR, instead it automatically switches to general mode, (which does look a lot better than game mode) and the input lag is absolutely ridiculous, and I cannot state that enough. It is by far the worst I have ever seen. Of course you can change it manually to game mode, but now that means it isn't set on auto so you have to change it for each and every game depending if it has HDR or not. This is just tiring and cumbersome. As I have said though streaming picture quality is generally quite good, what I find strange though is saying you're watching a programme on iPlayer at 480p it is far far superior to the TVs standard definition, even though they should be similar resolution and the internet should even have more compression. If you're a gamer and only play the PlayStation 5 this is a great TV, but if you watch Regular TV or have a lot of devices, or even don't have any devices and rely on the TV built-in dashboard then this is quite a bad TV. When it comes to sound quality though this TV is actually fantastic, and the inbuilt surround is brilliant. It is definitely something this TV got right. I have little bad to say about it. The product claims the TV is 240hz, this is completely incorrect. It is basically marketing talk. It is actually 60hz natively, but each manufacturer has their own version of this technique ( Sony's is motionflow, LG trumotion etc etc) and this basically adds interpolation, which can give a sort of soap opera effect, and whilst you think having a higher refresh rate would be better for gaming it is far far worse as it adds input lag and fake frames. When it comes to watching TV it is basically a subjective thing though, I think most people prefer it off. All in all I am incredibly disappointed with this TV and have felt nothing but a bad sinking feeling every time I put it on. At this price I expected much much more I certainly didn't expect multitude of dead pixels and horrible light bleed. I generally feel ripped off and I don't know who to be mad at, a lot of the faults are with Sony, but I do think they have a good inspection process and some of these issues are too obvious to have slipped past that so I question how this TV came about whether it was bought on the cheap as a defective product and resold, or if somehow this was just acceptable to Sony to sell it like this. I had hoped I would get use to these issues overtime but I haven't and I wish I had bought a different TV from somewhere else.
