Sense and Sensibility: The Screenplay and Diaries (Newmarket Shooting Script) Paperback – July 10, 2007

I’m taking a class comparing the book to the screenplay. I never realized what a genius Emma Thompson is, paring down hundreds of words into short, simple scenes and making improvements along the way. Jane Austen probably never dreamed of movies, but Thompson shows her mastery.

I'm not a 'fan' of anything but I do love Ang Lee's "Sense and Sensibility'. I think it's one of the great cinematic achievements and have seen it so many times, I know much of the dialog. Emma Thompson's book is a wonderful appendix to the work!(now if only someone would do the same for Fight Club and Bridge on the River Kwai)

Thoroughly enjoyed Ms. Thompson’s filming journals. The book’s intro gave great context into how the project started. Reading the screenplay was a joy, knowing the movie so well. I found great satisfaction in this book and I learned so much about filmmaking. The appendix includes an added bonus: a mock letter written by the actress playing Lucy addressed to Elinor. It was a writing assignment into the character’s backstories. It’s brilliant and a true highlight. I will watch the movie with new eyes next time. This book is delightful and special and I’m so happy to have found it.

The book is completely as described and was obviously in perfect condition when it was shipped. The bent cover and pages were the result of putting a soft paperback cover book into a loose envelope. Packaging needed some firm sides.

Loved reading Emma Thompson's diary during production - I could practically hear her voice as I read.

This was a gift for my mother, as this is one of her all time favorite movies. Item came on time and in perfect condition. She loves it!

The film is my mother's favorite, so I got this for her as a X-Mas gift. She was totally engrossed in it, and was so happy to have it in her library.
