Innovative Scuba Concepts Mini Quest Underwater Slate Is Magnetic / Erasable

Really nice and small ergonomic easy to use erasable slate!! Super happy

The good - cool concept. The magnetic slate is a neat idea. It certainly caught me. The implementation, however, leaves a lot to be desired... The rest, the more I try to use it, the less I like it. It's too bulky to fit neatly in my pocket, noisy to use, a pain in the butt to put in and remove from my pocket. The magnetic part did improve with use, but, it is not what I would call a bold mark. Readable, certainly, but not bold. Given the bulk, inconvenience and noise of carrying and using this thing, the best part about it is the removable slate. Cut the pencil off, tie it to the slate hole, and throw the rest away as useless bulk. I'll give it 2 stars, instead of 1, as MAYBE a dive instructor who uses a LOT of written communication, say, in a pool session, those disadvantages go away. Personally, I'll stick with the plastic slate, instead....

Scuba innovations used to make a small 4 x 6” slate that you could slide into a pocket a few years ago that worked great… Thought I would try the mini quest to see if it would be comparable, After all they’re both made by the same company….Unless you plan on writing in only 1 to 2 inch tall block letters it’s so fuzzy it’s impossible to read. It’s also very bulky. I would highly recommend anybody looking for a compact slate that they can write on underwater to buy the DUSLATE … wow … The worlds first electronic writing slate! Double the price of this one but boy it is sweet! Unfortunately there’s no way to electronically say what you are writing but you could write two paragraphs on the Duslate mini 4 x 6” electronic slate & easily read it under water… FYI they come in mini and regular size you can easily find it by googling I bought it directly from them. Thought I would add that in because I was so disappointed with the quality of the quest magnetic slate… For those of you who are scuba divers who are looking for something you can actually write on and who do not want to deal with wet notes and underwater pencils.

As of right now not taking it into the water, it looks great. The magnetic cleaning does work, but you will not be able to write small. This is a slate to write 1 big work at a time, clean using the magnetic strip then use again. The normal writing slate in the back would serve as the slate to write down smaller more detailed notes. I guess I was expecting too much, but it does seem to be able to be very useful.

The magnetic side sounded wonderful, kinda like an etch a sketch, but after writing on it in a wet environment, then attempting to transcribe it later when dry, into computer notes, I could not decipher what was written. The writing was too blobby and blurry to read and even my husband couldn't tell me what I'd written down! There are instructions on how to fix thin, faint hard to read writing by running a magnet over the screen several times, but that wasn't my problem and it didn't fix it. My problem was the writing being too dark, blobby and blurry. Instructions also say to touch the screen very lightly when writing with the magnetic pen, but that too did not fix the problem. I guess this one was defective.
