NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Shine Killer Mattifying Primer, Vegan Face Primer

Why have I not discovered this sooner?! I honestly never thought a product like this would deliver and it has! I reside on the coast with very high humidity. Usually I would blot my face with a tissue a few times but now I only blot at my hairline. My face remains matte even after 12 hrs of wear. I typically use high end make-up but when my face gets oily it completely ruins the look. I'm happy to say that's a problem of the past. How this is not rated 5 stars by others baffles me. This pairs well with NYX Marsh mellow primer to blur pores then apply the shine killer sparingly. I have mature skin, 49 yrs old with small to medium-sized pores.

I love how this makes my skin feel. I bought it to wear over my Vitamin C serum. It mattifies my skin so that my hair doesn’t stick to my face. My face felt like baby skin after applying it. I will definitely be buying this again!

Bought this in place of a liquid foundation. Works really great as a base coat with applying only a powder base.

This primer I must have. I try to keep 3 containers 😂 no lie because I don’t want to run out. I’m super oily & it controls the oil under my makeup for up to 9 hours and no other oil control primer does that. Here’s how ya do it best: wash or use a face scrub to cleanse & remove oils first, apply two thins layers of the NYX charcoal primer (only one on the nose), let it set fit 3 minutes then enjoy applying all the makeup in your routine. I’m oily so I stick with MAC & I get that perfect photo finish WITHOUT looking ashy & my skin is light brown with gold undertones. Good news-you can totally wear this alone! Bad news-don’t put it on your forehead as it may break you out if you’re oily up there. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

I am very shiny in my t zone and I’m constantly rubbing the excess oil out throughout the day. I apply this (you don’t need much) to my t zone and than apply foundation. It is a black liquid and absorbs quickly. It feels kinda oily at first and I worried about it leaving a black tint. Not to worry it dries quickly and my foundation easily goes over it. It drastically reduced the oily residue on my skin during the day. The container is small but a little goes a LONG way.

I definitely would not call this shine killer. It initially minimizes shine upon application, but I don't find that it controls shine throughout the day. It does have a very lightweight, silky feel and has a good price point. And it does not seem to break me out which is a plus.

Excellent product at a reasonable price. I have very oily skin and primer is necessary to keep my makeup in tact and not melting within an hour of application, but finding a good primer that lasts and does not cost a fortune is like finding a needle in a haystack. I was not expecting to find it in an NYX product but was pleasantly surprised. First, I love it’s a gel. I’d been using smash box photo finish but found its creamy texture a little heavy . I also had to be careful not to apply too much or it seemed heavy. The NYX primer is so lightweight, spreads easy and a little goes a long way. It does not feel greasy or heavy and it has lasting power. I got through a good portion of the day without any excessive shine or oiliness. Of course with oily skin you can expect to need to blot at some point, but nothing excessive. I applied it after moisturizer before applying foundation. I set with light oil free powder and that’s it. Great results! I really love this product at such an affordable price and will definitely repurchase.

I am shocked that this primer has so many good reviews. I hate literally everything about it. - Application feels greasy, which is not something you want from a shine-controlling primer - This caused my makeup to separate immediately. Most foundation will begin to separate over time but this caused it to do so immediately. Foundation application was awful. - I didn't even think I had any dry areas on my face yet somehow this primer caused my foundation to cling to dry spots, this has never happened with my foundation before - The primer started pilling underneath my foundation as soon as I put it on - This did not control shine any better than if I hadn't used anything at all I am starting to wonder how many of these reviews are fake or paid for, because if you look up this primer on youtube, the reviews are overwhelmingly negative. Wish I had done better research beforehand. (Also, I am not using any kind of special foundation, I am using drugstore foundation with typical silicone-based ingredients.)
